The Sims 4’s Upcoming Expansion Pack Brings You Back to High School

The Sims 4 has been with gamers for quite some time now, but it manages to feel fresh after every update for an eight-year-old game.

Electronic Arts (EA) and Maxis, the game's developer, released an expansion pack for the game called Discover University, wherein players can send their Sims to college, per EA's blog post.

However, the same could not be said for teens and their high school life... until now.

EA recently revealed that its upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 4 would be coming sometime in late July and that it will be giving teenage Sims the high school experience they deserve.

The game publisher also announced it would introduce more of the expansion pack's features on a live stream in mid-July.

EA mentioned in its announcement that its upcoming expansion pack, titled "High School Years," would expand the high school experience of every teen sim in the game.

Just like in Discover University, High School Years takes teen Sims and their players out of their home lot into Copperdale High, which Maxis describes as "the center of your teen Sim's world."

As such, teen Sims will no longer have to disappear into the imaginary black hole kids and teens go to when they're going to school.

Additionally, the expansion pack gives teen Sims the chance to be the teen Sims they want to be, just like young adult Sims can in college. They can attend class, hang out with friends, have lunch in the cafeteria, take exams, and get detention for causing mischief and mayhem.

Teen Sims can also join a club for their extracurriculars, such as the school's football team, the cheerleading squad, and other similar groups.

However, unlike Discover University, Copperdale High doesn't have dormitories for teen Sims to stay in when school's out. Fortunately, the expansion pack does come with new furniture and decorations that players can use to decorate and furnish their teen Sim's bedroom.

High school can also lead to a life-long love and/or embarrassing breakups, which are also part of the High School Years' experience. This experience is highlighted during Prom night, where teen Sims can dance the night away with their date.

Sims can also get nominated for Prom royalty during this once a (Sim) lifetime event.

Players will want to keep their teen Sim's appearance great for the big night, though - Maxis added a free update that introduces growing body hair ranging from mustaches and beards to underarm hair.

When teen Sims graduate from high school, they can earn titles that highlight their achievements, such as Star Quarterback and Valedictorian. They can even give gifts to their favorite teachers if the player so chooses.

Players can decide whether to let their teen Sim attend the graduation ceremony or not. However, they won't get an invite if their Sim's grades aren't good enough.

The Sims 4: High School Years Availability And Price

Interested players can now preorder High School Years from EA's official website for around $40, per Rock Paper Shotgun. However, those with EA Play could get it for four dollars less than the original price, per the expansion pack's PlayStation Store page.

Those who will preorder the expansion pack can start playing it immediately when it launches for PC and gaming consoles on July 28, 2022.

Meanwhile, EA and Maxis will host a live stream on July 15 on Twitch and YouTube channels to further showcase the expansion pack's features and base game updates.
