Asus is preparing to release its next non-gaming flagship, the Zenfone 9, after earlier this week's launch of the ROG Phone 6 series. Prior to its official release, the Zenfone 9's official promotional video has appeared online, virtually outlining every feature, XDA and Android Police reported.
Asus Zenfone 9 Promo Video Leaks
On Thursday, Asus unintentionally posted the Zenfone 9 promotional video to its official YouTube channel. Nearly every aspect of the forthcoming device, including its design and hardware details, are revealed in the clip. Asus quickly removed the video, but it has already been copied and is currently being shared online.
The Zenfone 9 appears to be a very interesting device. The phone will cost between €800 and €900, or roughly $850 to $950, according to Twitter user SnoopyTech (who has previously had some precise leaks). That is significantly more expensive than the previous-generation Zenfone 8's $699 starting price, according to The Verge.
The price increase's justification (and accuracy) won't be clear until we get a hands-on and formal announcement, although the video does show a few upgrades that might help to offset the higher price.
Features of ASUS Zenfone 9
According to Android Police, the following are the (leaked) features of ASUS Zenfone 9:
The footage reveals that the Zenfone 9 will be available in four matte colors: blue, red, beige, and black. All of the colors, with the exception of beige, have a black chassis finish.
A 50MP Sony IMX 766 sensor with ASUS's gimbal module is located behind the main lens of the Zenfone 9. Instead of loading the Zenfone 8 with a variety of substandard cameras, ASUS continues to use fewer cameras with better hardware. The secondary camera's features are not addressed in the video.
The ZenTouch side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which serves as both a power button and a page-scrolling mechanism, is another distinctly ASUS feature. On the front, a 5.9-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate would allow users to view content and perform daily tasks. The selfie camera would feature a left-aligned hole punch cutout in the display of the Zenfone 9.
The phone would have IP68 certification for ingress protection and water resistance, according to the Zenfone 9 teaser. Despite the certification, the phone still features a 3.5mm headphone port, which has been disappearing from mid-range phones as well as flagships like this one.
The Zenfone 9 will be powered by a large 4,300mAh battery. The phone would be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Aside from being 20% more power-efficient than last year's processor, Qualcomm claims it offers 15% better CPU performance.
Accessories for ASUS Zenfone 9
According to the video, the phone will come with a Smart Backpack Mount that lets you clip the device to your chest while wearing a backpack. This could make recording first-person videos more practical. Android Police noted that another accessory is the flexible CONNEX phone case, which might include a kickstand and a built-in cardholder.
