Speculation surrounding Google's impending Nexus 5 smartphone have been rife and now reports suggest that the smartphone will launch in October this year.
What's more, LG (who made the Nexus 4) is reportedly set to remain the manufacturer for the next-gen of the Android-powered smartphone from Google. Google will also allegedly retain the Nexus 4's $299 (8GB version) and $ 349 (16GB) price points for the Nexus 5 as well.
The upcoming Nexus 5 was rumored to be based on the LG G2, but recent rumors have suggested that Google could look to other manufacturers such as Motorola to build its next Nexus smartphone.
With LG apparently back in the hot seat as the manufacturer for the Nexus 5, the new report from Chinese website MyDrivers reveals that Google and LG apparently have something in the works, likely the next Nexus smartphone.
The Chinese publication cites South Korean media as its sources, but does not give any additional details to support the October launch claim.
"The report also said the new Nexus phone will be around October this year to meet with you, then there appeared Android 5.0 system, as the price of Nexus 5, Google will continue Nexus 4 pricing strategy. If so, priced at $ 349 for 16GB version should be the main sales (equivalent to 2140 yuan)," reports MyDrivers (translated).
According to the site, the Nexus 5 will also come pre-loaded with the upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie platform and pack in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, as well as 2GB of RAM. The handset will apparently tout a Full HD (1080p) display, but at this juncture it is not clear if the display will be 5 inches or bigger. The Nexus 5 will reportedly also tout a 10-megapixel primary camera according to the publication.
My Drivers also notes that the recently-launched LG G2 and Google's upcoming flagship Nexus 5 will look alike, but house different configurations as the latter will need to be budget-friendly.
However, with Google yet to confirm which OEM (Motorola, LG or other) is undertaking the manufacturing of the next-gen Nexus smartphone, we need to take the news with a pinch of salt.
