The recently-launched BlackBerry Q5 is now available for purchase from several carriers in Canada.
The BlackBerry Q5 is the company's second handset this year that features a QWERTY keyboard and runs on BlackBerry 10 operating system. The handset may attract customers who want to buy an entry-level handset with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The Canadian company launched the BlackBerry Q5 in Canada on July 30. The company announced that the handset will be available from authorized partners Bell, Fido, Koodo, Sasktel, TELUS, and Virgin Mobile Canada, as well as retail stores Best Buy Canada, Future Shop, Target, TBooth Wireless, The Mobile Shop, The Source, Walmart, and WIRELESSWAVE across the country.
BlackBerry also announced that in Canada the handset will be available in black and Pure Red color options, but the red avatar will be available only via Virgin Mobile in the country. The handset is also available in white and pink colors in other regions.
The latest BlackBerry Q5 features a 3.1-inch display with 720 × 720 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 329 pixels per inch (ppi) and packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor under the hood. The BlackBerry Q5 measures 4.72 x 2.60 x 0.43 inches and weighs 4.23 ounces. The handset is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing one.
The device has 8GB of internal storage and the option to expand to an additional 64GB using a microSD card. The handset also has LTE connectivity and a 2,100mAh non-removable battery, which offers 12.5 hours of talk-time on 3G and 14 days standby time.
Various carriers have listed the handset on their websites. TELUS is selling the handset for $49 on a two-year contract and for $425 outright. Fido has a price tag $50 on a two-year contract and $350 outright. Bell is retailing the BlackBerry Q5 for $49.95 on a two-year contract and for $399.95 without any contract.
