Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Galaxy Note 3 reportedly confirmed for Sept. 4 Unpacked event

A new report claims that Samsung will unveil its Galaxy Gear smartwatch alongside the Galaxy Note 3 phablet at its September 4 Unpacked event.

The smartwatch race is going to heat up in the next few months, with smartwatches from companies such as Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft all expected to be announced. The devices will connect to smartphones and display information so you don't need to take your smartphone out to see notifications and other information. All four companies have been able to keep most of their smartwatch plans under wraps, but it looks like Samsung will beat its rivals by being the first to unveil its smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, in September.

SamMobile is now reporting that its sources have confirmed that Samsung will definitely unveil the Galaxy Gear at its Unpacked event on September 4 alongside the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung has managed to keep both of these devices' designs under lock and key. Some rumors claim that the Galaxy Gear will use a flexible display that has been developed by Samsung. It will also act as a companion accessory for Samsung's Galaxy smartphones. We'll likely hear more details in the coming weeks regarding what to expect from the Galaxy Gear.

When it comes to the Galaxy Note 3, there has been no shortage of leaked specs and features. The most recent reported specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 claim it will feature a 5.7-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD Super AMOLED display and run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz Nature UX. The phablet will be powered by a 2.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and will use the company's newly announced 3GB RAM modules. Its camera capabilities are expected to include the same 13-megapixel rear camera found in the Galaxy S4 and include a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The Note 3 is expected to be available in 16GB and 32GB storage capacities. Samsung is also expected to include enhanced S-Pen features and applications.

We only have a few weeks before Samsung's event where we'll finally get to see these two highly anticipated devices. Stay tuned.
