The social network's comments section will now have built-in GIFs thanks to a new partnership between Reddit and Giphy.
Reddit Users Can Now Add GIF Without a Third-Party Host
According to a 9to5Mac news story, Reddit users will be able to use Giphy as of this Wednesday to post GIFs to their comments on supported subreddits. With the new partnership, sharing GIFs on Reddit will be a lot simpler for users.
Normally, Reddit users would have to link a GIF on a third-party site rather than just simply seeing it. However, the new partnership eliminates the need to click on a linked GIF in order to view the image or animation. The Verge mentioned that the social media platform had previously tested allowing GIFs in comments, but they were only accessible to those who had bought a Powerups subscription.
Fortunately, the feature should now be accessible to all users after seeing success with it over the previous two years.
Reddit users can now use the new Giphy integration on the web and mobile apps.

Not All Subreddits Are Supported With This Feature
The new functionality is an opt-in tool for non-quarantined and SFW (safe for work) subreddits. Thus, moderators will have the authority to determine whether or not users may utilize GIFs, as per 9to5Mac report.
From this point forward, Giphy integration will be enabled by default for newly formed subreddits.
Previous Upgrade on Reddit's Comment Sections
Reddit began indexing comments in its searches in April, claiming that it could make it even easier to access content outside of certain subreddits.
According to Reddit's statement, the new feature will let users searching for specific topics or comments on the platform to do so directly rather than having to go through several posts and thousands of unnecessary comments and threads.

In the past, finding it required reading through each post in the r/London community and perusing the comments.
According to the platform, more than 26,000 Redditors searched through more than five billion comments during its brief initial testing in 2021. In a survey that the company also conducted in 2021, searchable comments came in first.
It's important to note (via Engadget) that the platform's searchable comments feature was one of, if not the most frequently requested feature for 17 years.
The deployment timeline for the new feature's mobile apps is yet uncertain. This feature is currently accessible on desktops.
Meanwhile, Reddit recently implemented a new look for the platform's search results page on desktop and mobile, which showcases a cleaner and simpler design. In addition to prioritizing posts over other content types, the results page has been made more easier to skim through than before, making it easier for you to locate what you're looking for.
