Hyundai Motors aims to become a leader in the zero-emission future. Taking its commitment seriously, Hyundai unveiled two performance-focused electric vehicles (EV), which are part of its "rolling lab" concept, according to Hyundai.
The RN22e, which features a modified Ioniq 6 body, and the N Vision 74, which takes after the 1974 Pony Coupe concept, illustrate N's electrification vision. Both EVs feature a refreshing sporty design, according to The Verge.
Hyundai's N Sub-brand is After Creating Powerful EVs
The concepts of the two EVs are from Hyundai's "N" sub-brand, which is after creating high-performance vehicles.
Between the two EVs, the N Vision 74 is the most striking. The vehicle features a design that takes elements from the 2025 Hyundai N Vision Gran Turismo and the 1974 Pony Coupe concept.
The 1974 Pony Coupe concept was originally designed by the iconic Giorgetto Giurgiaro, who also made the DMC DeLorean.
However, this new version changed the gas-powered engine for a hybrid hydrogen fuel cell system capable of moving the car over 250 kph (155mph).
The N Vision 74 is also equipped with a 62.4 kWh battery that has 800V fast charging capabilities. It also has an over 372-mile driving range.
Creating the N Vision 74 is not Hyundai's first try at creating an EV that takes after the Pony. Hyundai showcased a 45 EV concept in 2019. The model was supposed to pay homage to the classic car.
While the RN22e isn't as striking as the N Vision 74, the car is still sleek. The EV makes use of the same aerodynamic streamliner design as the Ioniq 6. This allows for more efficient performance.
The RN22e has a 77.4kWh battery that allows 400 or 800V fast multi-charging capability. The model has a maximum speed of over 250kph (155mph).
Drivers can experience what Hyundai describes as an "emotional driving experience" with RN22e's N Sound Plus feature. Fake engine sounds are generated as you drive.

Hyundai's Rolling Lab Prepares the Company for Future Challenges
Through its rolling labs, Hyundai tests and verifies its advanced technologies to apply them to future production of car models.
According to the company, RN22e combines the all-new IoniqQ 6 and Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E‑GMP). Through this, the new vehicle set a new standard in high-performance EVs.
On the other hand, N Vision 74 is Hyundai N's first hydrogen hybrid rolling lab to "explore driving fun in the electrification era."
"RN22e and N Vision 74 play an important role in the strategic development of our entire product lineup, especially our electrified, high-performance vehicles," said Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Division at Hyundai Motor Company.
Moreover, Schemera said that rolling labs is a means of the company to showcase the continuous development of their most advanced technologies.
The rolling labs approach prepares Hyundai for the challenges of the future by empowering the company to push themselves to the limit.
Hyundai's engineers will continue to test and verify both RN22e and N Vision. This is in order for future N road cars to be equipped with their advanced technologies.
