If you're interested in getting a PlayStation Plus subscription soon, you're in for a treat.
A Polish gaming publication recently discovered that Sony would soon be giving gamers who just subscribed to PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) a seven-day membership free trial to give them a taste of what to come for free, per Video Games Chronicle.
The newly revamped version of PlayStation became available to people living in North America on June 13, giving Americans access to exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, online multiplayer access, and games from last-gen consoles, per the PlayStation Blog.
PlayStation Plus Seven-Day Free Trial Details
Polish gaming publication XGP mentioned in its report that Sony has decided to offer a seven-day free trial period for new PS Plus users who did not pay for the refreshed subscription.
Interested gamers who wish to enjoy this seven-day free trial period would have to enter the special PS Plus tab on the PlayStation Store website and then click "Join PlayStation Plus." Doing so will allow you to choose whether you want to subscribe to the service's Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers.
For those unaware, the Essential tier gives gamers access to online multiplayer, exclusive discounts, and monthly games for free. This tier also gives players cloud storage for game save files, the ability to share play with other people, exclusive content, and game help, per the service's official website.
PS4 games, as well as the benefits from the previous tier.
The Premium tier gives gamers access to every PlayStation Plus benefit, including games launched for last-gen consoles from the Playstation 4 to the original Playstation console. Give Me Sport also mentioned that PSP games will be included in the list.
However, the seven-day free trial period is only applicable to the Extra and Premium tiers, probably due to the number of benefits they give.
PlayStation Plus Seven-Day Free Trial Period Availability
Interestingly, despite the new PS Plus is already available to people using the US server, the trial period has yet to be available in the region.
The PlayStation Plus page for Poland and the UK shows that the price for the Extra and Premium tiers has been reduced to zero for a week, which indicates the previously mentioned trial period, per Eurogamer. After which, Sony will start charging users the appropriate price for the duration and tier selected.
This exception could mean that the trial period will be made available for the US region at a later date.
Unfortunately, Sony has yet to disclose when this would happen, nor has it addressed the seven-day free trial period in any of its announcements.
Additionally, Eurogamer reported that the seven-day free trial period would not show up if you already are an existing PS Plus subscriber, which could be due to Sony's plan to attract more gamers to subscribe to the service.
Furthermore, you can unsubscribe to the service during or before the trial period ends if you feel it isn't for you. However, it's unclear if you can subscribe to the service again after unsubscribing to avoid being charged for using the service.
