Nokia Lumia 625 pre-orders sold out on Indian retailer

Nokia recently launched the Lumia 625, which went up for pre-order on Indian retailer SnapDeal. Pre-orders for the handset have sold out already.

The mid-range Lumia 625 is currently the biggest Windows Phone 8 (WP8) around. Nokia handsets have been very popular in India and previous WP8 smartphones such as the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and more have been very well-received in the country.

"With our largest smartphone screen to date, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a perfect example of how Nokia is delivering leading smartphone innovation and experiences at every price point," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices.

SnapDeal is charging a down payment of Rs. 1,000 ($16.22) for Lumia 625 pre-orders. However, the actual price of the handset remains unknown. The release date of the handset in India is also not available at this point but customers will hope to get their hands of the handset as soon as possible.

Just like its predecessor (Lumia 620), the Lumia 625 will be available in five brightly-colored, changeable shells, which include orange, black, white, yellow and green.

The handset boasts a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and a pixel density of just 201 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 512MB of RAM power the Lumia 625. The handset has 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded to 64GB via a microSD card.

The Lumia 625 is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. The camera of the handset has a number of applications integrated, which are also found on the latest Nokia Lumia 1020. The Nokia Smart Camera feature allows removing unwanted objects from a picture. The handset also includes Nokia Cinemagraph, which "turns your pictures into living memories with added movement."

The number of apps in the Windows Phone app store is increasing with each passing day. Customers now have a pool of over 165,000 apps that can be accessed on the Lumia 625.

The Lumia 625 may attract many customers looking to experience WP8 at a pocket-friendly price. Indian customers will now have to wait until the handset is officially released in India.
