The greatest World of Warcraft (WoW) expansion will come to its classic edition two months from now.

Blizzard Entertainment recently announced that an improved version of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (WoW: WotLK) would soon be live in late September globally.

The expansion is heralded as the best WoW expansion due to the expansions it made to character customization and concepts introduced in previous expansions, like badges, per Destructoid.

WoW: WotLK Classic Expansion Details And Improvements

The much-beloved expansion will bring both new and veteran players back to the frozen land of Northrend, where the Lich King himself, Arthas Menethil resides. Players from the Alliance and the Orcish Horde can expect improved features and content in this addition to the game's classic edition.

Veteran players who played the original WotLK expansion may find more than a few differences between the original and WoW Classic's version due to Blizzard trying to keep the expansion as what people remember and want back from it, per PC Gamer.

The game developer also made efforts to remove or add minor changes to make certain features feel appropriate in 2022.

Players will begin their journey towards Icecrown Citadel in one or two zones in Northrend, which are the Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord.

From there, they could enjoy the expansion's improved content, which includes the addition of the Death Knight hero class for both factions. However, Blizzard warns players that death knights are limited to one per server and require a level 55 character on that server to create.

Fortunately, these requirements can be ignored for a player's first death knight. However, any death knights created aside from your first on a different server will require players to follow the previously mentioned requirements, per the WoW Classic official website.

The expansion also comes with a new profession - inscription. This profession allows players to create their mystical glyphs that modify the properties of spells and abilities like cooldowns and damage, as well as craft trinkets and off-hand items.

Thanks to the WotLK expansion, WoW Classic will soon have 5-player dungeons like Azjol-Nerub and the Culling of Stratholme. On the other hand, 10 to 25 players can participate in a raid to lay siege to Naxxramas, which is an update of its original version as a 40-player raid in pre-expansion WoW.

Players should keep in mind that they are still required to finish WoW Classic's previous expansion, The Burning Crusade to enjoy these improved contents.

WoW: WotLK Release Date And Jump Start Event

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King will be available globally on September 26 at 3 PM PDT. Blizzard noted that the expansion would be included with existing WoW subscriptions, meaning that anyone who has subscribed to WoW can also play WoW Classic at no additional cost.

Additionally, Blizzard is giving players in The Burning Crusade Classic expansion an experience buff called "Joyous Journeys," to prepare for WotLK Classic's upcoming release.

The buff will increase experience gains by 50%, giving people a good chance to level up a character, create a new one, or invite friends to join in their adventures.

The buff can be toggled on or off at any innkeeper in a capital city. However, it will not remain forever as it will expire on September 26 with WotLK Classic's launch.
