After receiving several backlashes regarding the changes on its platform, Instagram's CEO said that the company needs to regroup.
Instagram's CEO said the Company Must "Regroup" After Complaints
Some of the contentious modifications Instagram has made lately are being undone. Following the criticism, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in a new interview that the firm has to "take a large step back and regroup."
Instagram has received criticism from users all across the world, including the Kardashian sisters Kylie Jenner and Kim, voicing frustration that the app was overtly copying rival TikTok while distancing itself from its photo-sharing roots. With a video that effectively doubled down on the adjustments, including more Reels and videos on your feed.
Although he admitted that Instagram will "continue to promote photographs," he also predicted that "over time, more and more of Instagram will become video."
Additionally, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently said that over the next two years, Instagram and Facebook feeds would continue to display even more "suggested" content. According to Zuckerberg, the business intends to "more than double" the quantity of AI-recommended Instagram feed material.
Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, said Thursday (July 28) that the company would roll back the previously launched version of Instagram, which mostly showed videos that were suggested to users by an algorithm on their home screens.
However, Mosseri made it clear that Instagram would continue to prioritize video and that, although temporarily reducing the amount of algorithmically suggested videos that users watch, that number will eventually increase if the business decides the technology has been enhanced.
Kylie Jenner's Sentiments Over Instagram Modifications
The photo-sharing service has drawn criticism for adjustments it has made over time. "Make Instagram Instagram again," said Kylie Jenner, a well-known Instagram user with 361 million followers, in a post on Monday (July 25).
The petition's creator, Tati Bruening, wants Instagram to give artists a more sincere hearing.
The platform's "recommendations" function, which displays content from accounts you don't follow on your feeds, has drawn criticism from users. In essence, it seems like Instagram is trying to match the success of the TikTok For You Page.
Instagram Announces New Features and Updates
Instagram reportedly added new features to enhance the user experience. The Meta-owned social networking site included a photo "remix" to simplify user interaction. The company said any video shorter than 15 minutes would be uploaded as a Reel.
The blog post claims that Instagram would soon allow users of public accounts to "Remix Photos" and enjoy more.
Users of the site will also be able to choose from various "Remix Layouts."
Public account users may pick a green screen, horizontal or vertical split-screen. A user may add a picture-in-picture response view to video comments on a Reel upload.
The blog post said, "You may now put your clip after the original, so it plays sequentially. Instead of having your remix show simultaneously as the original Reel."
With the introduction of Templates, users of the social photo-sharing app can now construct Reels by importing placeholders for audio and video clips instead of just adding new ones.
