Airbnb bookings receive record-high demand, boasting its highest peak in summer, wherein travel traditionally skyrockets.
The impressive demand for Airbnb lodging interestingly comes as the economy has frustratingly slowed down these days.
And on top of that, it is worth noting that Airbnb has recently pulled out all of its listings in China.
Airbnb Bookings are Record High
But despite all that, the renowned lodging platform says that travel demand persists to be strong enough, wherein its bookings have already reached record-high figures.
As per the latest report by BBC, Airbnb claims it has achieved a new record high for its booking in the second quarter of 2022.
To be more precise, the lodging platform discloses that it received roughly a whopping 104 million bookings from the start of April until June ends.
BBC highlights in its report that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has normalized remote work more than ever, has changed the landscape of travel.
Airbnb notes that it now receives a growing number of long-term stays as more folks travel as they go through their remote work routine.
Meanwhile, domestic and international travelers now see the rainbow after the rain. Both forms of travel have recovered from their bleak days during the height of the pandemic, wherein movement has been stringently restricted in various parts of the world.
The booking platform further boasts that it now enjoys its strongest demand during summer when travel reaches its peak.
According to a news story by CNN Business, the revenue of Airbnb also skyrockets by roughly 58% or around a staggering $2.1 billion than its numbers in 2021.
The media outlet reports that the average daily rates of the lodging platform have jacked up by around 40% this 2022 compared to 2019.
Airbnb Soars Amid Economic Slowdown
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airbnb, Brain Chesky, famous for allowing his workforce to work anywhere forever, argues that the economic slowdown might help the booking platform.
