AppleCare+’s iPhone Theft and Loss Coverage Includes Three More Countries — Is Yours One of Them?

Apple's upgraded warranty plans are now available in three more countries.

Applecare+ with Theft and Loss, the Cupertino-based company's improved service and protection platform for iPhones, is now available for purchase in three Western European countries for the first time since its launch, according to MacRumors.

Applecare+ was previously launched in 2011 as an option that covers accidental damage for iPhones, per the Apple Wiki. Its initial iteration, Applecare, was only a way for customers to extend their iPhone's warranty past its expiration date.

AppleCare+ With Theft And Loss Inclusion Details

According to MacRumors' report, France, Italy, and Spain now have access to AppleCare+'s theft and loss coverage for iPhones. This statement means that if an iPhone purchased in those three countries were stolen, Apple would replace the device at a cost lower than a brand new iPhone, per Apple's Support page.

As such, iPhone owners with AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss will be able to replace their devices twice a year should their devices get stolen or lost.

However, Customers should keep in mind that AppleCare+ only covers Apple's recent iPhones, such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and its mini model, the iPhone 13 models, and the third generation iPhone SE.

To avail of a replacement phone, Apple requires customers with AppleCare+ to have Find My enabled on their iPhone at the time the device was lost or stolen and throughout the claims process.

Additionally, the customer will be asked to erase their missing iPhone, disable it, and transfer the device's ownership before they can be issued a replacement device during the claims process.

Apple advises people with AppleCare+ to add an additional trusted number to their account should they use two-factor authentication so they can sign and access Find My even if their device is missing.

Aside from Theft and Loss protection, Apple iPhone customers in the three western European countries can now enjoy Apple-certified support and repair, priority access to technical support, up to two incidents of covered accidental damage per year, and battery replacement.

However, the covered accidental damage AppleCare+ extends only to the iPhone registered to the plan and its original accessories. Additionally, a battery replacement is only possible if the device's battery has been depleted to less than 80% of its original capacity.

Additional Costs

The price of AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss varies depending on the unit in question, according to the AppleCare+ pages of the three Western European countries. If you have a third-generation iPhone SE, you'll have to pay €7.49 a month for a one-year only coverage or €149 for two years.

Meanwhile, customers with an iPhone 11, an iPhone 12 model or its mini version, or an iPhone 13 or an iPhone 13 Mini will have to pay €11.49 a month for a one-year coverage or €229 for a two-year coverage.

Lastly, if you have an iPhone 13 Pro or an iPhone 13 Pro Max, you'll have to pay €14.49 a month to get a one-year coverage or €289 for a two-year coverage.

In addition to the AppleCare+ price, Apple will also charge an additional amount for repairs to hardware damage. For example, repairs made to damaged screens or glass back will cost €29 while other types of accidental damage will require you to pay €99.

Meanwhile, a replacement phone for an iPhone covered under AppleCare+ has a price tag of €129.
