The Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has finally made its redesigned app available on desktop, Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as Amazon Fire tablets, according to Engadget.

The New Features of the Redesign HBO Max App

The redesigned HBO Max app delivers an "updated, intuitive navigation," plus "refined design and visual styling to let content shine," according to WBD.

Finally, the app now supports tablets in both portrait and vertical modes. There is also a dedicated video download page.

According to WBD, one of the highlights of the new features available in the updated HBO Max mobile and desktop application is a shuffle button functionality expansion to mobile devices.

Previously, the shuffle button functionality expansion was available only on the desktop and CTV experiences. With this, you can "randomize the first episode that plays for select series on the platform," as per Variety.

Another highlight is a dedicated home for downloaded content. This comes with an improved performance and stability.

The enhanced app also added a SharePlay support for iPhone and iPad users for U.S. users.

The SharePlay feature allows subscribers in the U.S., who have an ad-free plan and an iPhone or iPad, to watch their favorite HBO Max programs in sync with friends and family during a FaceTime call.

With improved navigation elements and functionality, you will also enjoy an enhanced screen reader experience.

The redesigned HBO Max also allows the ability to split screens with other apps. Moreover, another enhancement is the Google Chromecast stability improvements.

HBO Max Customers Can Expect Another Change Next Year

However, in about a year, HBO Max customers might be encountering another huge change.

Last week, WBD announced that it would integrate HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single streaming service, which would start in the U.S. next summer, as per Variety.

In a statement, WBD streaming chief JP Perrette noted that HBO Max has had "performance and customer issues," as per Variety.

Perette stated that the combined HBO Max-Discovery+ would make use of the rich feature set of HBO Max. But, users can expect that the service will come with the streaming infrastructure that powers Discovery+.

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, claimed that Discovery+ has a superior tech stack. He stated that this tech stack will serve as the focus of the new service when they merge HBO Max's content with Discovery Plus's content and technology, as per iTech Post report.

In a statement, Kamyar Keshmiri, SVP of product design for Warner Bros. Discovery Streaming said: "We are delighted to introduce the revamped HBO Max mobile and desktop apps."

Keshmiri added that the changes in the platform provided users with more of the features they care most about.

The improved navigation and a "more immersive canvas for storytelling" help the users as they hit their favorite content faster.
