The classic survival horror series Alone in the Dark is back thanks to Pieces Interactive.
Storyline and Plot
After acquiring the franchise from Atari SA in 2018, the publisher revealed during Friday's THQ showcase that it is bringing Alone in the Dark back to life, according to IGN.
Although Alone in the Dark will present a brand-new, original story, it will nonetheless incorporate themes, places, and characters from the survival horror video game from the 1990s.
The developers of the game mentioned during a briefing for the media that one key concept for the game is to embody the flavors of Southern Gothic, which is especially suitable given the Louisiana setting.

Gamespot pointed out that the 1920s Gothic American South serves as the setting for this game.
The Derceto Manor mansion serves as the game's main location, just like in the original, although it now serves as a mental institution for wealthy patients.
The characters came looking for information on Jeremy Hartwood, just like in the original game, except this time they're looking for him after he wrote Emily a bizarre letter.
There are other locations in the game as well, such as an alternate dimension world that you can access through portals and that seems to be populated by creatures.
Game Characters
Many features from the 1992 title are maintained in Alone in the Dark, including the two main playable characters, private detective Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood.
Both of the characters, though you get to pick which one to play when the game starts, are crucial to the plot. You'll need to play from each character's perspective in order to fully understand what happened in Alone in the Dark because Edward and Emily's storylines aren't precisely the same, as per Gamespot.
What Can You Expect on the Game
The game heavily emphasizes combat, as you'll use firearms and melee weapons while battling from an over-the-shoulder stance against hideous creatures. The game's creators claim that you'll frequently use whatever is nearby to fend off the monsters you encounter, while you may occasionally need to rely on escaping to survive.
As you can guess, the game uses conventional survival horror gameplay. You'll sift through landscapes, work out puzzles, and experience a fresh, deeply psychological horror narrative. Combat and action will be extremely tense as you face off against mysterious monsters.
Gamespot noted that the lead writer of the reboot, Mikael Hedberg, stated that the story will be more active than the original; anticipate voiced conversation and cinematic cutscenes in addition to notes, letters, and other stuff you'll discover as you explore Derceto Manor and the surrounding area.
Where Can You Play This Game?
Along with the PC, Alonge in the Dark will be made available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A release date hasn't yet been disclosed by THQ Nordic, though.
Gamespot said the game has been in development since late 2019, according to THQ Nordic, and is around an alpha stage.
