The latest milestone of Giga Shanghai comes shortly after the giant all-electric automaker has upgraded its facilities to significantly increase its production.

Elon Musk: Tesla Giga Shanghai Hits 1 Million Production Milestone

No less than the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla, Musk, announced on his Twitter account that Giga Shanghai has already made its 1 millionth EV.

As per the latest report by Electrek, the achievement of the Giga Shanghai is a monumental milestone for the Tesla factory in the Asian nation.

The news outlet notes that the big boss of Tesla stated last year that its Chinese facility is its new primary export hub.

Musk made that pronouncement when the Giga Shanghai easily outpaced the Fremont Factory of the renowned EV maker in its production capacity in 2021.

And now, the wealthiest man in the world and Tesla chief executive proudly boasts that the Giga Shanghai has produced 1 million EVs.

The tech entrepreneur congratulated Giga Shanghai for reaching its 1 millionth mark.

The founder of the EV maker further highlighted that the tech giant has already produced a total of 3 million vehicles across the globe.

Electrek notes that Musk revealed the Tesla milestone earlier this August, confirming that it has already produced its 3 millionth EV.

During that time, the CEO went on to look ahead at the next 10 years, predicting that it would be more than 100 million vehicles by then.

Tesla Giga Shanghai

The Tesla Giga Shanghai debuted producing EVs in December 2019, exactly a year after its swift construction began.

The Chinese facility is currently responsible for producing the Model 3 and Model Y EVs. However, the carmaker is also looking to bring more models soon.

The past several weeks for the Giga Shanghai were pretty much difficult, no thanks to the lockdowns in the Chinese district as the government seeks to bring down the number of active COVID-19 cases.

Not to mention Tesla was recently forced to shut down as the American automaker upgraded the facility to kick off a more efficient production rate.

Tesla Production Goal 2022

According to the latest report by Car Scoops, the giant automaker is pushing to produce roughly 2 million vehicles this 2022.
