Sally Carrera-Inspired Porsche 911 Carrera to be Auctioned for Charity

The Cars movie from Pixar, Sally Carrera, is now for sale to the public.

Sally Carrera is an iconic character that a lot of people are familiar with and who became popular in Pixar's Cars movie.

When Sally Carrera made her debut in front of audiences all over the world, she was portrayed on TV by a light blue Porsche 911 996-generation Carrera.

She was without a doubt one of the most beloved characters in the film, right up there with the film's star, Lightning McQueen.

Porsche decided to build the modern version of the Sally Carrera. The finished version of the car is going to be auctioned off for charity on August 20 during the Monterey Car Week.

Dr. Sebastian Rudolph of Porsche stated, "With this one-off street legal 911, the 'Sally Special', which we are auctioning for charity, we want to help people who urgently need support, quite in keeping with the spirit of the film character."

Porsche's Sally Carrera

The Porsche 911 Sally Special was created as a tribute to Sally Carrera, who was portrayed as a personified version of the Porsche 911 Carrera from the 996-series.

The 911 Sally Special was created by Porsche and Pixar Animation Studios. According to CarExpert, "The project began in November 2021, uniting members of the original Cars team."

Additionally, "The team included Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios, and Bob Pauley, the production designer who first drew Sally Carrera."

It is based on the Carrera GTS manual and is hand-painted in a distinctive Sallybluemetallic hue, which is also the same color used in the interior of the vehicle.

Porsche designed the real-life 911 Sally Special to be used frequently, with an emphasis on the usefulness and practicality of everyday life.

The car will be auctioned on Saturday, August 20 by RM Sotheby's and the proceeds will be given to two charities.

The first charity that will be donated to is Girls Inc., which is an organization that helps young women. The second charity that will receive the proceeds will be the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support Ukrainian refugees.

The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Designs

Porsche's design with real life Sally Carrera includes five-spoke 20/21-inch wheels, which are a reworking of the wheels used by the character Sally Carrera that were designed by Porsche designers in Weissach.

Other references to the Sally Carrera tattoo can be found at the vehicle's rear. The interior of the car features seats that are upholstered in a unique Pepita houndstooth fabric that comes in three different colors.

This fabric is mixed with chalk-colored leather, and the stitching is done in Speed Blue. Other references to the character include a cartoon depiction of Sally located on the dashboard.

According to Driven, the car has a button labeled "Kachow!" mode located on the steering wheel, and the Cars logo is displayed in a few different locations throughout the cabin.

Since it is derived from the Carrera GTS, the Sally Special is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine that generates 353 kW of power and 570 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed manual transmission.

During the course of the project, which took ten months to complete, the Pixar team collaborated with members of the Sonderwunsch team at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart as well as designers from the Style Porsche team in Weissach.
