Apple iOS Beta 6's Low Power Mode now lets iPhone users control their battery percentage.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has ditched the battery percentage since it debuted the iPhone X, no thanks to the notch that cramped the icons above.
But several years have passed, yet Apple still does not offer any option to show battery percentage. It comes even as its latest flagship, the iPhone 13, already sports a much smaller notch, to begin with.
Well, it turns out that the long wait is finally over.
According to a recent report by The Verge, the iOS 16 beta 5, which developers received last week, resurrected the long-awaited battery percentage indicator on iPhones.
Apple iOS 16 Beta 6
And this time, as per a news story by 9to5 Mac, the renowned phone maker has started seeding the new iOS 16 beta 6 to developers ahead of its official release this September along with the all-new iPhone 14 series.
Besides the new iOS beta, the tech giant is also rolling out the iPadOS 16 beta 6 to developers.
It is worth noting that both beta software releases are not actually limited to developers alone. In fact, all users registered in the Apple Beta Software Program could get their hands on beta 6 of iOS and iPadOS.
Meanwhile, those who are not part of the said program would have to wait for its formal and stable release this fall.
iOS 16 Beta 6 Low Power Mode Battery Percentage
One of the most notable changes in the latest beta 6 is the refinements in the Low Power Mode option on iOS 16.
9to5 Mac notes in its report that the previous beta 5 release gave iPhone users an option to turn on or disable the battery percentage indicator depending on their preference.
However, once they trigger the Low Power Mode option, there's no way to hide the battery percentage, which some are not apparently fans of.
And as such, once their iPhones go to lower power in beta 5, they would also automatically get a percentage indicator. It essentially gives them no choice but to let it sit there. The best they could do, though, is to avoid using Low Power Mode altogether.
Thankfully, beta 6 has updated the Low Power Mode.
It now has a new option that lets iPhone users disable the percentage indicator even while the device tries to save some juice.
The latest update is surely a piece of welcome news from folks who find the new battery percentage design a bit hideous.
