Ultimate Ears just released the Wonderboom 3, the latest unit of the brand's beloved entry-level Bluetooth portable speaker, as per The Verge.
The third generation Wonderboom promises excellent quality 360-degree audio plus up to 14 hours battery life. All these features come in a compact package.
Wanderboom 3 Offers a Number of Improvements
Wanderboom 3 offers a few improvements over the second generation of Wanderboom. But the price remains unchanged at $99.99.
One of the improvements is the Bluetooth range, which is now 131 feet from the 100-foot range on the Wonderboom 2.
The battery life has been improved by an hour, which is a good catch given that the price of the speaker remains the same.
Like its predecessor, you can pair two of the speakers together for true stereo separation. But this time, your audio will cover more ground at parties because of the extended range and battery life.
In addition, Ultimate Ears added a stereo-pairing mode for a true left-right speaker experience. The brand, however, chose to keep the MicroUSB charging.
Ultimate Ears has also induced sustainability into the speaker. The brand claims that Wonderboom 3 speakers are made from "a minimum of 31 percent post-consumer recycled plastic."
Moreover, according to Digital Trends, the fabric grille of the Bluetooth speaker is now made of 100% recycled polyester.
Wonderboom 3 still got two-year warranty. This is considerably longer than average, according to Ultimate Ears. Moreover, the speaker was designed to withstand some pretty rough use, as it should be able to survive a drop from a height of up to five feet.

Wanderboom 3 Retains Some Good Features
If you like the older models because it can float in water, you'll be delighted to know that the Wonderboom 3 will keep that feature. The speaker has an IP67 rating for water, dirt, and dust resistance.
The IP67 rating only means that Wanderboom 3 will resist jets of water if you want to use it in the shower. Moreover, it is also "drop proof" in case you accidentally drop it.
You may observe a few design changes between the original Wonderboom and the Wonderboom 2. However, the third-generation model looks quite similar to its predecessor, with two-tone fabric and a flat bungee cord loop.
The Wonderboom 3 speaker has a contrasting strap plus an iconic control button that stand out against the body.
Wonderboom 3 is available in four new colors: Hyper Pink, Performance Blue, Active Black, and Joyous Brights. You will have more options to choose from.
According to Ultimate Ears, these are only "initial" colors, suggesting that more colors could possibly hit the market in the future to give consumers more choices.
It appears that the Wonderboom 3 only have modest upgrade to the previous generation but the features of its predecessor are already good, so continuing the tradition is probably a good move.
You can expect the Wonderboom 3 in both the US and UK on August 31 for $99.99.
