AT&T announces Nokia Lumia 925

AT&T has officially announced that it will begin offering its customers the Nokia Lumia 925. The smartphone will become available on September 13 for $99.99.

The Nokia Lumia 925 has been T-Mobile's flagship Windows Phone and it will soon be making its way to AT&T. The smartphone will join the 41-megapixel-packing Nokia Lumia 1020 in AT&T's Windows Phone lineup. The Lumia 925 is the first Lumia to feature an aluminum frame design, which gives the handset a premium feel. Like with the Lumia 1020, Nokia has included a high-end 8.7-megapixel PureView camera that includes optical image stabilization (OIS), advanced Carl Zeiss optics, and six lenses that produce great photos even in low light. Some of its impressive camera functions include:

  • Nokia Pro Camera app lets you manually adjust flash, focus, ISO, shutter speed, white balance and exposure.
  • Nokia Smart Camera captures a series of 10 shots and gives you the opportunity to edit your photos using a range of effects:
  • Best Shot takes several shots so you can choose your favorite one. It also suggests shots that have the best and sharpest frame.
  • Action Shot takes one photo that shows a sequence of movement in a single image.
  • Motion Focus creates an effect that the subject of your photo is moving at super speed by keeping the subject still and blurring the background. Unlike other cameras, with the Lumia 925 you don't have to physically move or follow the action to create a motion blur photo.
  • Change Faces combines your favorite expressions from a series of shots into a single perfect group photo.
  • Remove Moving Object lets you erase unwanted details from your photos.

The AT&T Nokia Lumia 925 features a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 and a pixel density of 332 pixels per inch (ppi). The handset runs Windows Phone 8 and includes Nokia's Lumia Amber software update pre-installed and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It includes 16GB of internal storage and1GB of RAM. It also has an 8.7-megapixel PureView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization (OIS), autofocus, dual-LED flash, and can record 1080p video. There is also a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. The phone's wireless capabilities include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. The Lumia 925 includes a non-removable 2,000 mAh battery.

AT&T will begin taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 925 beginning on August 28 and have the smartphone available in stores on September 13 for $99.99 when signing a new 2-year contract.
