'House of the Dragon' Premiere Causes HBO Max Streaming to Crash

The premier of the much-anticipated "Game of Throne" prequel "House of the Dragon" didn't go smoothly as HBO Max wants it to be as some subscribers reported that the app is crashing.

Some subscribers are prompted to seek help because HBO Max was crashing during the launch of the first episode of the "House of the Dragon."

According to the Deadline, the @HBOMaxHelp Twitter account experienced a lot of traffic as subscribers tried to seek help regarding the issues with the app.

Majority of the Affected Users are Those Using Amazon Fire TV Platform

According to The Verge, there are subscribers who are streaming the premiere episode without a problem, but others complained that the app crashed on them. Some subscribers said that the app froze after getting past the pre-show teaser trailer.

Reports based on tweets, and Reddit posts showed that majority of the subscribers experiencing problems are those who are using an Amazon Fire TV platform, or a Fire Stick.

According to the Deadline, one user shared that they were getting a "title not available" error message. When they brought the issue to customer service, it said that they would "love to help to get this figured out."

Meanwhile, another user seemed to be annoyed that the app "would crash." When they inquired to @HBOMaxHelp to help them solve the issue, it advised them to "try closing the app and restarting to see if this helps."

Later on, the HBO Max support team acknowledged the issues that the site is actually crashing.

HBO Max support team replied to a user saying: "We're aware some users may be encountering issues at the moment. Please try closing the app and restarting to see if this helps. Reach back out right away if you still have trouble."

HBO Max Says They are in Process of Solving the Issue

The Verge said that the reason why that app is crashing is unknown. Subscribers are advised to switch to another device. Another advice given to users is to create a new profile.

According to HBO's Chris Willard: "House of the Dragon" is being successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers this evening."

Willard acknowledged that they are aware that a small portion of users attempting to stream via Fire TV devices are having problems. The HBO Max support team is in the process of resolving the affected users, he added.

"House of the Dragon" is based on George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood." It is set 200 years prior to what happened in the "Game of Thrones." The series narrated the story of the powerful House Targaryen.

The show stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Cast for the series also includes Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell and Emily Carey.

Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes and Savannah Steyn are also part of the show.
