Scheduling Issue Cited as Garner's Reason for Exit
"My Glory Was I Had Such Friends" is based on the Amy Silverstein memoir of the same title. The right to turn the novel into a limited series was initially acquired by Apple in 2018 in a straight-to-series order, as per Apple Insider.
The project took an extended development period. But now, Garner has decided to leave the project entirely. The "Alias" alumna's move reportedly led for the project to be cancelled on Apple's streaming platform.
According to sources, scheduling issues is the reason why Garner decided to exit "My Glory Was I Had Such Friends." However, the parties involved in the issue did not officially comment on the cancellation of the show.
According to the Deadline, it has taken quite some time before the show get into production. By the time it take off, Garner is already engaged in filming another Apple TV+ limited series, "The Last Thing He Told Me."
Garner's working project for Apple TV+ is an adaptation of Laura Dave's bestselling novel. The series is produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine.

Other Project of Bad Robot Was Scrapped by HBO
Very little information is known regarding the development of the limited series, except that since it was acquired in 2018, it has taken a very long time to take off.
According to the Apple Insider, Apple TV+ ordered the show with Garner aboard. It was made together with Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV.
But even if the show is scrapped from Apple TV+, there is still a small collection of writers working on more scripts, according to the Deadline. This is in case the show would be sold to another network.
Apple TV+'s cancellation of "My Glory Was I Had Such Friends" is just one of the issues Bad Robot has encountered. "Demimonde," another straight-to-series order from 2018, was scrapped by HBO.
According to sources, the project was cancelled due to a huge production budget, which is estimated to be around $250M.
Bad Robot has other projects with Apple TV+. One of it is a series based on Scott Turow's book "Presumed Innocent," with David E. Kelley.
Another project is the live-action series based on Speed Racer, which is currently in active development.
The scrapped limited series, "My Glory Was I Had Such Friends," is based on Silverstein's memoir.
It narrates about the "power of friendship and the resilience of the human spirit." The story follows an extraordinary group of women who have provided support to Silverstein while she is waiting for a "second life-saving heart transplant."
