The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake is back on track again.
The highly anticipated remake of the Star Wars game has been rumored to be halted for the past few months.
Today, in a published report by Embracer Group, the company has confirmed the continuation of the game's remake to a new creative studio.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is intended for the PS5 and PC. The Star Wars game was originally assigned to a publishing company based in Texas, Aspyr Media.
However, it is now being worked on by one of Saber Interactive's Eastern European studios. Saber Interactive has been in the back seat, helping Aspyr Media with the remake. The difference now is that Saber will be taking charge.
According to The Verge, the Embracer Group stated that one of the organization's AAA projects has been moved to another studio inside the organization. The organization came to the conclusion that the quality standard needed to be raised to the level necessary for the title.
Aspyr, a company that is well-known for its ports of KOTOR and KOTOR II, was originally going to make the game when it was first unveiled in September of last year in a brief video shown during a Sony showcase.
After a demo was presented to Lucasfilm and Sony, however, development on the remake was halted until further notice.
Due to the transition, there is no longer any chance that Aspyr will be able to keep its leadership position over the project.
Last month, managers at the development studio, which had been working on the remake of the game for more than two years, informed the workforce that the game was "on pause" as the firm deliberated about its future course of action.
However, despite the fact that the message left the door open for Aspyr to one day once again assume a position of leadership, employees rapidly began to spread allegations that Saber had assumed control of the project.
What's Next for Embracer
According to the Embracer Group, after what they describe as "an extended period without major releases in PC/Console games,"they're planning to reportedly move into a new phase of "higher release activity."
Furthermore, Embracer anticipates the release of two AAA games by the end of this year. The company anticipates receiving royalties for Gearbox's AAA game Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, which was launched before the end of the prior fiscal year.
One of the most significant new releases during this fiscal year is going to be the revival of Saints Row, which is going to be available in both digital and retail shops on August 23.
In addition to this, they have stated that they are working on over 220 ongoing game development projects and that their well-invested development pipeline is now reaching its maturation stage.
More than 25 AAA video games are currently in the planning stages for release between the fiscal years 2025 and 2026 as part of the projects that they are working on.
The company stated that they are excited about the prospect of sharing more information with the rest of the world in the upcoming months, and years regarding everything that they are developing.
