It is unknown how this action would have an impact to Musk's legal strategy.
The Chancery Daily Twitter account noted that subpoena refers to "documents and communications reflecting, referring to, or relating to the impact or effect of false or spam accounts on Twitter's business operations," as cited by Engadget.
Subpoena also references to documents connected how Twitter utilizes mDAU or monetizable daily active users as a "key metric."
Engadget mentioned that having a subpoena also means requesting "documents relating to incorporating mDAU into executive or director compensation."
Musk also sent subpoenas to Twitter's recently ousted product chief Kayvon Beykpour and former head of revenue Bruce Falck.
According to Musk, the social media platform has misled him and the public. He said that Twitter did not divulge the actual number of bots and fake accounts on the platform.
Meanwhile, the lawyers defending Twitter's case stated that Musk has actually broken the terms of his agreement with the company repeatedly. Amid this rife, Musk and Twitter are set to face a five-day trial beginning October 17 at Delaware.
Previously, Dorsey endorsed Musk's bid to acquire Twitter. According to him, "Elon is the singular solution I trust," and that Musk was ""getting the company out of an impossible situation."
Dorsey hasn't issued a public statement regarding the ongoing legal battle between Musk and Twitter. Likewise, he's quiet about the Tesla CEO's claims about bots and fake accounts.

The upcoming trial of Twitter and Musk on October 17 will determine whether or not Twitter can force the billionaire to proceed with the acquisition, as per CBS News.
Musk isn't the only one who filed a subpoena, as a host of tech investors and entrepreneurs connected to Musk received subpoenas from Twitter.
Among those who received subpoenas from the social media platform are prominent venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, and David Sacks, the founding chief operating officer of PayPal.
In addition to Musk's claims regarding "spam bot," the billionaire also claimed that Twitter did not fulfill its obligations under the deal by "firing top managers and laying off a significant number of employees," said CBS News.
According to the team handling Musk's cases, they expect that further information about the bot numbers will be available as the court trial proceeds.
On July 8, Musk announced that he was pulling out of the Twitter deal. After four days, the company file a case that would force him to proceed with the acquisition.
Dorsey received the subpoena last week. It is requesting Dorsey to present documents and communications related to the acquisition.
The subpoena is also asking for information on the impact of fake or spam accounts on "Twitter's business and its measurement of daily active users," as per CBS News.
As of writing, there is no comment from a lawyer representing Dorsey.
