YouTube Puts an Age Restriction on Cory Kenshin's Video

Kenshin posted a video on YouTube talking about some personal issues that he experienced with the platform, as per Dot Esport.

As of writing, The video titled "YouTube: Racism and Favoritism," is rapidly gaining attention on social media, as per SportsKeeda.

According to the YouTuber, his video, a playthrough of The Mortuary Assistant, was given an age restriction. The video came out earlier this month.

Before going into details about his frustration, Kenshin claimed that he was trying to remain composed through the situation. Afterwards, he detailed his grievances.

"I don't want there to be any lost context," Kenshin said. "I don't want to just look like I'm coming out of nowhere, having a temper tantrum."

He said that the allegations he is throwing at YouTube are extremely serious. Then, he said "YouTube, you guys either play favorites, you are racist, or it's a mix of the two."

Upon discovering that YouTube put an age restriction on his video, the content creator checked whether other videos showing playthroughs of the same game were also age-restricted.

Kenshin said that he found out that only his post had any such restriction. He had taken actions following this, as he made an appeal about his restriction. However, the YouTuber noted that his initial appeal was rejected.

The content creator then pointed out to YouTube that there's another popular YouTuber, Markiplier, who has a playthrough with the same content that has no age restriction. When he did this, YouTube removed the age restriction from his video.

Having to provide YouTube with a video of a more popular, white creator just to get his appeal accepted made Kenshin upset. This prompted him to send an email to express his frustration.

Cory Kenshin Says YouTube's Action is Unfair

After an exchange of emails and some conversations with his YouTube representative, Kenshin later discovered that the same original video had an age restriction on it again.

With this, he went to check Markiplier's post, and he found out that now, it also had an age restriction on it.

"They got called out, and then they had to go back and say, 'oh woah woah woah, we see the narrative he's kind of pushing here. We need to take some steps back,'" Kenshin said.

Throughout the 14-minute video, the YouTuber explains from his perspective how "unfair" the situation is. He also expresses that he feels his channel is more "heavily scrutinized."

Despite Kenshin's claims of racism, he said that it is hard to point out which race is affected in the situation.

He noted that it is difficult to prove that someone is a racist "unless they're spamming the N-word in the chat."

Furthermore, he admitted that he cannot prove 100 percent that race had everything to do with the age restriction in his video.

Meanwhile, there is no public response from YouTube regarding Kenshin's claims.
