Android 13 has finally come out of the beta version. Android 13 is slowly rolling out to mobile devices. Google expects that by the end of the year, mobile phones operating on Android will be able to access the latest version of their latest system.
Following the launch of the first Android 13 developer beta in February, the first Android 13 public beta was made available in April. It was then followed by a fourth and final beta version of Android 13.
Finally, Android 13 is now available for public consumption. Google has released Android 13 and is in the process of rolling out the update to Pixel phones that are compatible with it.
For now, the Android phones that can run Android 13 are limited to recent Pixel models, including the: Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4A, Pixel 4A (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5A, Pixel 6, Pixel 6A, and Pixel 6 Pro.
The newest version of the operating system will also soon roll out to other Android phones, such as for HMD (Nokia phones), Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, Asus, Tecno, Sharp, Oppo, Motorola, Vivo, Sony, Realme, OnePlus, iQOO, and more.
According to Android Developers, you are able to check and update your Android version to receive Android 13 over the air if you are using a device that is supported by Google Pixel.
It is not necessary to perform a factory data reset of your device in order to upgrade to Android 13, and it is strongly recommended that you do so before installing Android 13 on your device. However, it is necessary to back up your data before installing Android 13.
How To Download Android 13
Before installing the newest operating system, it is first recommended to do this process when you have a reliable internet connection that can sustain the download.
Second, it is important to note that installing a new system on your device will consume storage space. It is highly recommended to make sure your device has enough storage to download and install the update, or else you won't be able to proceed. Usually the update file size is a few gigabytes.
Third, it is also recommended for users to have at least 50 percent battery percent to have a seamless transition and function to Android 13.
According to CNET, to download, launch the Settings application on your device in order to get the installation process started.
Next, go to the bottom of the page and select System, then navigate to find System Update and select it. In some devices, there might be an update prompt that is already available.
If that is the case, you can tap into it and you should see it load in the next few seconds. However, if your device does not have that prompt, just select the Check for update option.
After doing that, you need to tap the green button that says "Download and install" on the bottom right.
Afterwards, the download and installation process for the Android 13 operating system will start, which could take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of your phone and its current condition.
When the installation is complete, you will be running Android 13 as soon as your phone completes its restart.
