Verizon has just begun offering the Moto X to its customers for $199.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. You can now get the smartphone for $139.99 using a code at checkout.
To call the Moto X a popular smartphone would be an understatement. The handset has been one of the most talked about smartphones this year. It's the first handset that Motorola and Google worked on together since Google acquired the company in 2012.
The Moto X has some impressive features that make using the smartphone a breeze whether its display is on or off. Its Touchless Control feature allows you to perform different actions on the smartphone without ever touching or waking the handset. Motorola has built in special sensors that are always listening for its owner's voice. Users can perform a variety of tasks such as getting directions, making calls, sending text messages, checking the weather and more by simply saying the phrase "Ok Google Now" followed by a command. The smartphone will wake itself and do what is asked.
Motorola has also included a new feature called Active Display, which displays an icon on the screen of the smartphone when a new notification gets pushed to the handset. The Moto X also includes a clever way to launch the smartphone's camera. All you need to do is pick up the Moto X, twist your wrist twice and the handset wakes and automatically opens the camera application. Those are just a few of the features Motorola and Google built into the handset.
The Verizon Moto X features a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED HD display and is powered by a custom dual-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Motorola's X8 Computing System and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU). The Moto X ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but should be updated to the latest Android 4.3 in the near future. The smartphone is available in two storage capacities, 16GB and 32GB and includes 2GB of RAM (Verizon is currently only offering the 16GB model).
It is packing a 10-megapixel rear camera able to record 1080p video and also has a 2-megapixel front facing camera. When it comes to connectivity, the Moto X includes a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Motorola has also included a 2,200 mAh battery and the smartphone is available in black or white.
