A new viral sensation emerged in 2018. The "In My Feelings" Challenge is a popular dance craze that swept the internet in 2018.
Thousands of social media users and celebrities shared videos of themselves doing the same moves to the tune of Drake's song "In My Feelings."
In just a few weeks, #InMyFeelingsChallenge hashtag has been used in more than 400,000 posts on Instagram. The craze was started by Instagram user TheShiggyShow, according to PopSugar.
On June 29, 2018, TheShiggyShow, a widely followed comedian, shared a video of himself dancing. He calls his moves "the shiggy." He's doing "the shiggy" in the street using dance moves that perfectly matched up Drake's lyrics.
TheShiggyShow made a heart gesture with his hands when Drake sang, "Kiki, do you love me?" while he made a driving motion with his arms for the lyrics "Are you riding?"
After the original video was posted, it spread "like wildfire," as per PopSugar. Afterwards, social media influencers and celebrities including Will Smith and Sterling K. Brown took on the dance challenge, imitating the moves flawlessly.
The viral challenge was prominently spotlighted in Drake's official music video "In My Feelings," which indicates how much influence it has.
Celebrities Get Into the #InMyFeelingsChallenge
One of the celebrities who did the then known as #TheShiggy was NFL player Odell Beckham. He was among the first one to film himself doing the dance while getting out of a vehicle, according to NME.
Beckham was followed by singer Ciara who took a time out of her honeymoon. She posted a video clip all the way from a picturesque Cape Town. By the time Ciara posted her clip, the whole craze was already known as the #InMyFeelingsChallenge.
Trying to prove himself as a cool Dad, Will Smith took upon the #InMyFeelingsChallenge, too. He climbed to the top of a bridge in Budapest and did the craze.
One unique entry is the Fab Five of "Queer Eye" who delivered a masterclass on how to do the routine. It's unique because the masterclass showed how to do it in trainers, heels or barefooted.
While on a pretty luxurious holiday with his family, DJ Khaled also did an #InMyFeelingsChallenge entry while on a holiday.
Even Drake himself performed the Shiggy dance onstage at Wireless. Interestingly, fans decided to climb up trees to get a better view of his surprise performance.
But away from the celebrities' performance, the craze has spread rapidly even to ordinary people.
