Nokia confirms Lumia 1020 coming to Canada through Rogers, TELUS, and Black's

Canada is one step closer to receiving the 41-megapixel-packing Nokia Lumia 1020. Nokia has confirmed that Rogers, TELUS and Black's will offer the smartphone.

When Nokia announced the Lumia 1020 it went above and beyond with the camera it included with the device. While some smartphone cameras top out at 16-megapixels such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, Nokia decided to easily top its rivals by including an unprecedented 41-megapixel camera in its latest flagship device.

Canadian Nokia Lumia fans will be happy to know that Nokia Canada has just announced via Twitter that the Lumia 1020 will be making its way to Canada and will be available through Rogers, TELUS, and Black's.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 features a 4.5-inch ClearBlack AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with a 1280 x 768 resolution and a pixel density of 334 pixels per inch (ppi). It also includes a special sunlight readability enhancement, uses scratch-resistant glass and includes support for wide viewing angles. The handset runs Windows Phone 8 with the Nokia Lumia Amber update pre-installed.

It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 225 GPU (graphics processing unit), has 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. The very high-end and powerful 41-megapixel PureView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics also boasts optical image stabilization (OIS), Xenon flash and full HD 1080p video recording. The smartphone also includes a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of wireless capabilities, it features a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC.

Nokia ships the Lumia 1020 with a long lasting non-removable 2,000mAh battery, which offers up to 19 hours of talk time and 16 days (384 hours) of stand-by time. Its dimensions are 5.13 x 2.81 x 0.41 inches (130.4 x 71.4 x 10.4 mm and weighs 5.57 oz (158 g). It also includes wireless charging support through the use of an optional back cover.

Nokia has not announced a specific release date or pricing for the Lumia 1020 for Canada, but once we get more specific information we'll be sure to update you.
