A leaked internal document from Three UK reveals the Galaxy Note 3 will launch on September 16 and the Sony Xperia Z1 will launch on September 24.
Samsung and Sony will be unveiling their latest flagship smartphones in the next couple of days. Samsung will be holding an Unpacked event on Sept. 4, where it will announce both its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 3, and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Sony isn't going to let Samsung have all the fun and it will unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1, on the same day.
Engadget received a tip from a source in the form of a leaked document from Three UK, which lists launch dates for the Galaxy Note 3 and Xperia Z1. According to the document, the Galaxy Note 3 will launch on Sept. 16 and the Xperia Z1 will launch on Sept. 24.
The Sony Xperia Z1 will feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality for mobile and run Android 4.2.2. The smartphone will be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU).
The Xperia Z1 will also include 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. When it comes to on-board cameras, Sony will be using a 20-megapixel rear camera with ExmorRS for mobile, Sony G-Lens and BIONZ for mobile, support for 4K video recording and a 2-megapixel Exmor R front-facing camera. Wireless connectivity will include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The Z1 will be waterproof and dust-resistant (like the Xperia Z) and will be powered by a large non-removable 3,000 mAh battery.
The most recent rumored specs of the Galaxy Note 3 indicate that Samsung will release two variants of the phablet. One model will ship with an eight-core Samsung Exynos octa-core processor, while another version will ship with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Both models will include 3GB of RAM. The UK is expected to get both variants of the phablet. It will reportedly use a 5.68-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED display and run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz Nature UX.
It is expected to be offered in both 32GB and 64GB models. It has been reported that Samsung will use the same high-end 13-megapixel camera found on the Galaxy S4 and pack a 2-megapixel front facing camera. Its wireless capabilities will include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. It is also expected to sport enhanced S-Pen applications and features, a microSD expansion slot and include a large removable battery.
