Samsung's Odyssey OLED G8 Gaming Monitor Will be Available Soon

In the fourth quarter of 2022, Samsung is expected to debut its 34-inch OLED gaming monitor, which pricing information is not yet available.

Here's a Few Things You Should Take Note About Samsung's Odyssey OLED G8

The Verge reported that Samsung's 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor would be available soon. It will be officially launched by Samsung Electronics in IFA 2022 that will take place in Berlin, Germany.

The G8 has a 3,440 by 1,440 display with a 175Hz refresh rate and a flatter 1800R curve as compared to the 1000R Odyssey G9. Regardless of the game currently being played, the gaming display boasts a 21:9 aspect ratio, 100% color volume, and DCI-99.3% color gamut for stunning images.

It is a premium model in the Odyssey line and is one of the first gaming monitors from the firm to have Samsung's Gaming Hub. With this, users may stream games from Nvidia's GeForce Now, Google Stadia, or Xbox Game Pass even without needing a console or PC.

Additionally, it is constructed with an elegant metal chassis and features an ultra-thin profile of 3.9mm at its narrowest point. It offers realistic color and contrast and is the first VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black Certified. It has AMD FreeSync Premium for lag-free gaming in addition to its quick response time and refresh rate.

Its CoreSync & Core Lighting+ system enhances visual engagement by balancing the colors on display and bring content to life with its vibrant colors for an immersive experience. It also has a 5W stereo speaker for great music and Micro HDMI (2.1), Mini DP (1.4), and USB-C ports for connectivity.

Although Samsung has not yet disclosed the monitor's pricing, it seems to be a pleasing product that will be released at different times worldwide beginning in Q4 2022.

Samsung is Bringing More Shows to Its TV Plus

Just a day before Samsung publicized its new gaming monitor, on Tuesday, August 30, The Verge reported that the company intends to bring more programs to its TV Plus.

Since its introduction in 2015, Samsung TV Plus currently provides over 1,600 channels all over the world, of which 250 are made available in the United States, according to Broadcasting+Cable.

The updated version of the TV Plus now gives access to new shows like "Top Gear," "Law & Order Special Victims Unit," "NCIS," and "Chicago Fire." TV Plus will also get Ride or Drive and Samsung Showcase, two exclusive Samsung-owned channels, in addition to new programming. While the latter is a channel for concerts, events, and original material, the former is geared toward car fanatics.

Although Samsung now offers several news channels from both local and national, like BC News Live, CBS News, and NBC News Now, it still aims to expand its reach. Additionally, through building new and expanded collaborations with Lionsgate, Vice Media, and other businesses, it intends to extend its video-on-demand library next year.

According to research, 18% of US homes use a FAST service, up from 9% a year ago. Samsung said TV Plus users streamed 3 billion hours in the last year. The whole free ad-supported TV (FAST) streaming market, which includes Comcast's Xumo, Amazon FreeVee, Fox's Tubi, NBC's Peacock, and Paramount's Pluto TV, has been growing.
