Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane" Anys just released a new video after one month of being on a break from social media and content creation, according to Kotaku.
However, much to the fans' surprise, her video revealed an unexpected announcement. According to Pokimane she will stream less on Twitch and will instead expand on other social media platforms.
Pokimane Will Focus on Posting Non-gaming Content on Other Social Media Platforms
Pokimane said that in the future, her posts will focus on non-gaming content and will be posted on other social media platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram.
"I feel like other platforms fit into my lifestyle nowadays a little bit better," Pokimane said.
Currently, Pokimane is considered one of the biggest content creators on Twitch. She began streaming on the platform in 2013. She started streaming League of Legends when she was just 17.
After several years of streaming, she said that she had already lost her passion for the platform.
"I hope it doesn't sound big-headed of me to say, but nowadays when I see things on Twitch, it kinda feels like 'been there, done that," Pokimane said.
She expressed that she observed that there's pressure on streamers to follow every trend and to rely heavily on viewership.
She described the industry as "hyper-competitive." However, she explained that she is currently at the point of her life when what she's doing doesn't feel "creatively fulfilling" anymore, as per PC Gamer.
Currently, Pokimane, who has 9.2 million followers, has an exclusivity contract with Twitch. It is, however, unclear how her announcement would affect her agreement with the platform.
Aside from being a streamer, Pokimane co-founded the successful creator collective OfflineTV.

Pokimane Wants to Avoid the Pressure of Being a Full-time Streamer
According to Pokimane, she still wants Twitch "to be a part of my arsenal." However, she said that she no longer wants to be exposed to the "pressures" of being a full-time streamer.
The streamer said that she no longer wants to immediately turn to her PC upon waking up and play a game for eight hours straight.
Pokimane's sentiment is just similar to how other career Twitch streamers feel. These streamers expressed their struggles of grinding daily as they started streaming on the platform.
Recently, Twitch acknowledged that content creators needed to expand their horizons across multiple platforms in order to make success much easy to attain. With this, the ban on streaming to YouTube and TikTok was lifted for partnered Twitch streamers.
Based on the data that leaked from Twitch's internal record, "only the top 0.015% of its streamers make a livable wage on the platform," as per PC Gamer.
It is typical for popular streamers of Twitch to take a break due to burnout and waning passion.
According to PC Gamer, it is a good thing for Pokimane that she'll be able to "step back from full-time streaming" without the risk of losing her audience.
However, there are others that turn Twitch into an actual job who need to continue the grind.
