LG has now officially announced the G Pad 8.3, which will hit the shelves in Q4 this year.
The tablet was set to debut at the IFA event but the company has already taken the wraps off the device a days early. The LG G Pad Pad 8.3 is the first full HD display tablet in the smaller 8-inch tablet category, which may attract many customers looking out to use the tablet to view lots of video.
"Complementing our G Series smartphones, the introduction of the LG G Pad 8.3 further strengthens LG's premium lineup consisting of our most cutting-edge devices," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "Our G Pad is just another example of LG delivering devices with the unique selling points consumers around the world will appreciate."
The LG G Pad 8.3 sports an 8.3-inch WUXGA screen with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution and a display density of 273 pixels per inch (ppi). A powerful 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor powers the device.
The tablet is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, includes 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. A 4,600mAh battery powers the latest LG G Pad 8.3.
The slate will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. However, with the recent launch of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, customers would have hoped that the tablet is packed with the latest Jelly Bean flavor.
The handset will be available in two color options: black and white. The LG G Pad 8.3 measures 8.53 x 4.98 x 0.32 inch and weighs 11.92 ounces.
The company announced that the G Pad 8.3 will be rolled out globally in markets including North America, Europe, Asia, as well as other regions in Q4 of 2013. LG didn't announce the price of the device and we will have to wait until individual countries confirm the prices.
The company may find it difficult to make room for the LG G Pad 8.3 in the highly-competitive tablet arena so will have to wait and see if many customers are attracted to the latest LG offering.
