The Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso wins Outstanding Comedy.

One of the most famous comedy series in the Apple TV+ streaming platform, Ted Lasso, wins the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2022.

Ted Lasso's award for Outstanding Comedy Series has been a significant feat since it is its second consecutive time to win the award.

Aside from that, the comedy series also took home Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.

The star of the show, actor Jason Sudeikis, received the award and thanked all the people behind the success of the show. In his acceptance speech, he mentioned Warner Brothers, Doozer, Apple, the COVID squad of the team, the production, and also the supporters of the show.

It can be recalled that the Ted Lasso series did not experience any halt in the air time they had on the platform. The sports comedy series continued to film even despite the challenges in 2021 due to the strict precautionary measures of the pandemic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sudeikis stated, "Thank you, everybody who voted for the show, thank you everybody that works on the show."

Ted Lasso Wins Outstanding Comedy Series

Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso once again won the best comedy series at the Emmy Awards 2022, which is the second consecutive time that series has won in the category.

Ted Lasso won the best comedy series prize at Monday night's Emmy Awards, following last year's win in the same category.

Other shows that were considered for the award for best comedy series include Only Murders in the Building, Barry, Hacks, What We Do in the Shadows, Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

This year, Ted Lasso was the recipient of a staggering 20 nominations. In addition to the award given to the series, Ted Lasso also took home the Emmy Award for the Best Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for Jason Sudeikis. It also took home an award for Brett Goldstein as the Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.

Ted Lasso's Breaking Emmy Awards Record

Ted Lasso is a series streaming exclusively on Apple TV+ and is produced by Warner Bros.

The character of Ted Lasso was co-created by Sudeikis using a character that he had previously portrayed in a number of promotional spots for NBC Sports in 2013.

The character that Sudeikis plays is an upbeat coach of a college football team that is having difficulty winning games. The coach is recruited by the new owner of an English Premier League soccer club in an effort to undermine the team's overall success.

Another great win for the show is winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for MJ Delany for the episode called No Weddings and a Funeral, as reported by Apple Insider.

In the 74 years that this award show has been running, only seven shows have won in their debut season and then gone on to win again in subsequent seasons.

Ted Lasso is now a cast member of iconic and critically acclaimed television shows that have aired throughout the years, such as All in the Family, The Phil Silvers Show, The Golden Girls, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier, and Cheers.
