Zoom had a service difficulty that disturbed its professional and academic users. There have been complaints of users seeing error messages when they attempt to start meetings or join existing ones.
Zoom Users Experienced Issues Getting Into Meetings
Since the spread of the Covid 19 virus escalated in early 2020, the entire world has to depend on modern communication software to connect to people while avoiding contracting the virus. Zoom is among the most used platforms for video conferences, especially in academic and professional sectors.
Today, September 15, Independent.Co.UK reported that the known platform experienced difficulty causing disturbances to many of its users. Those that were from the United States and Europe experienced issues joining conferences on Thursday, September 14, while others could have experienced it at a different date or time, considering the world's varied time zones.
According to The Verge, users were welcomed with error notifications once they tried to click start and join meetings. The outage significantly affected those who heavily rely on its service for studies or work endeavors, but those who try to access using personal accounts to log in do not find it hard to connect.
Although many people were concerned about postponements and timetable delays as a result of the issue, others were relieved that the fault had enabled them to miss virtual meetings. They could have been students that were saved from maybe dreaded virtual recitations or quizzes.
After the service interruption took effect in the middle of working hours and soon after complaints rose, the platform's management immediately said that it had directly identified the root of the issue that bugged its service. It then told users that its team was working on fixing the problem to assure them that they were looking at the matter of concern. Eventually, after executing fixes twice, the platform prompted through its Zoom Status website that its services were then ready for function.
On a lighter note, The Verge reported on September 14 that Zoom will soon debut an email and calendar app by the end of the year, which could suggest competition against Google and Microsoft.
Since the said features will be available in the video conferencing platform, businesses using it most often will no longer find it hard to switch to different outlets for checking emails or schedules.

TikTok Encountered Internal Issues Disrupting Its Service
Zoom is not the only platform that has reportedly confronted service issues earlier, as TikTok also faced problems with its application. Similar to Zoom, those who make use of the streaming service application were dismayed after the streaming platform crashed on September 15 (via Independent.Co.UK).
As a result, many opted to release their dismay and frustration on Twitter especially putting into consideration that they cannot directly come at TikTok since it does not have a customer service page to cater to reports like this. Some even made the experience a subject for Twitter meme postings.
According to reports, difficulties start to occur once a user launches the app. It could play only a short clip but eventually crashes later on. Because of this, Down Detector received several reports, with almost 90% attributed to TikTok. However, the platform was again ready for undisrupted function after some time.
