Final Trailer for 'Star Wars' Prequel Series 'Andor' Revealed Ahead of Disney+ Debut

The trailer for "Andor" was revealed during last weekend's D23 Expo 2022, which offered loads of other surprises as well.

"Star Wars" fans had one hell of a weekend last week at Disney's D23 Expo 2022, which provided amazing sneak peeks into the upcoming films and series in the massive franchise. One of the most highly anticipated projects, however, is the Disney+ "Star Wars" prequel series called "Andor," which stars Diego Luna as he reprises his role of Cassian Andor from the 2016 film "Rogue One."

According to Space.com, D23 Expo 2022 revealed the final trailer for the 12-episode spinoff and showed plenty of footage to get fans excited for "Andor," which will begin streaming on Disney+ on September 21. The highly anticipated series is set five years before the events of "Rogue One" and brings back Cassian, the Imperial officer who switches sides and serves as a starship captain and Rebel Alliance spy.

The History of Diego Luna's Cassian Andor in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'

In "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Luna's Cassian was a young man who had long been fighting in the Rebellion when he discovered that a Death Star superweapon was being built. After being hired as an assassin to kidnap the scientist Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), who was forced to help in building the Death Star weapon, Cassian decides not to kill Galen and instead leads a heist to obtain the plans for the Death Star weapon on Scarif, Comicbook reported.

Spoiler alert for those who have not seen "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story:" both Cassian and Felicity Jones's Jyn Erso perish in the final battle against the film's main antagonist, Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn. The good news is that "Star Wars" fans will get up to 24 more episodes with Cassian in Disney+'s "Andor, which will run for two seasons with 12 episodes each, Deadline reported.

Diego Luna Plays a Larger Role in 'Andor,' On and Off Screen

Luna joined Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy at the D23 Expo 2022 panel to share his insights on the upcoming "Andor." The upcoming Disney+ also stars Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw.

Describing "Andor" as an "awakening of a revolutionary," Luna shared that serving as an executive producer on the Disney+ series has given him more creative control over the character and his arc than if he was just the actor portraying it, The Hollywood Reporter revealed.

In a conversation with the media outlet, Luna revealed that the upcoming second season of "Andor" will be divided into three blocks, which makes it look and feel more like separate films. He also hinted that there would be time jumps between the blocks, which allowed the characters to "evolve and transform."

The final trailer for "Andor" shows O'Reilly as Mon Mothma and shows a scene between Luna and Skarsgard as well, Collider reported. Check out the trailer for "Andor," which arrives on Disney+ on September 21.
