How to Fix the iMessage and FaceTime Bugs

According to TechRadar, newly activated iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro may not be able to receive iMessage or FaceTime calls due to the bugs.

When texting other iPhone users, you may also see green iMessage bubbles instead of the usual blue ones.

Another issue when it comes to iMessage is you may see messages coming from the wrong account. According to TechRadar, you may see the sender's email address rather than the recipient's phone number.

Given that a smartphone is primarily being used for text and calls, these iMessage and FaceTime issues on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro could posit a problem. Luckily, Apple already issued a fix to these bugs.

According to Apple, the issue "has already been patched" in the new version of iOS 16 (iOS 16.0.1). All you have to do is update your iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 16.0.1 to fix the iMessage and FaceTime bugs.

Upon arrival of your iPhone 14, activate it and set it up. Then plug your device into a power outlet.

Simply go to Setting app, then tap General, and go to Software Update. Click Download and Install, and enter your passcode if you are prompted to do so.

Once you're done with the update, the bugs should have disappeared.

What to Do if the Issue Persists After Updating

Meanwhile, according to MacRumors, if you're still experiencing issues after the update, you may have to follow a few extra steps.

Simply go to the Settings app, and tap Cellular/Mobile Data. You have to ensure that your phone line is turned on. In case you have multiple SIMs, ensure that the phone number you want to use is selected and turned on.

Go to Settings, then proceed to Messages, then tap Send & Receive. Click the phone number that you want to use with Messages.

Afterwards, you have to return to the main Settings menu, and select FaceTime. Then, tap the phone number that you want to use with ‌FaceTime‌.

Other Issues With iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro

Apple is investigating an issue with iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro where the "device activation during initial setup doesn't go through on Wi-Fi."

According to a separate report of MacRumors, Apple said that "there is a known issue for iOS 16 that may impact device activations on open Wi-Fi networks."

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro customers should select "Connect to Mac or to a PC with iTunes" in the "initial iOS onboarding process when prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network."

Afterwards, users are advised to return to the previous screen. Users have to try again on Wi-Fi until they managed to go through the activation successfully.
