Snapchat is one of the popular multimedia instant messaging apps nowadays. It was developed by Snap Inc., and was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown in 2011.

Snapchat had 293 million daily active users as of July 2021. It has a 23% growth over a year, and an average of more than four billion Snaps being sent each day.

The app allows users to chat, send snaps, stay in touch with friends, as well as discover new contents from influencers.

Snapchat has added new features but some are not aware of these. In this article, we are going to tackle the best Snapchat features in 2022.

1. Make Voice/Video Calls on Snapchat

Snapchat added a voice/video call feature in March 2016. This feature is similar to other social media apps, and it's considered as one of the biggest changes that Snapchat incorporated in the platform, as per MobileTrans.

To call you friends in Snapchat, you just have to open the Snapchat app and go to your friend's conversation. To make a phone call, look for the phone icon. To make a video call, look for the video recorder icon.

Once you tap the icon, you will hear the ringing of your friend's phone. If there's no answer, you will be asked to send a short voice or video recording to your friend instead.

2. Create Your Bitmoji

You can create you Bitmojis in Snapchat. These are cartoon versions of yourself. Bitmojis are like digital avatar. According to LifeWire, Bitmojis are "representing you in a variety of web-based services from Snapchat to Gmail and beyond."

Although Bitmojis are not productivity feature of Snapchat, you will enjoy creating one for yourself. Making Bitmojis will also help you get accustomed to the Snapchat universe.

3. View Snapchats Without Others Knowing

The sender typically knows if you have viewed the message already or not. But what if you want to view your friend's snap or message without them knowing it? According to MobileTrans, that is possible in Snapchat.

To check if there are new snaps, just open the Snapchat application and go to the "Conversation" tab. You have to wait for the snap to fully load. Make sure that there is already the pink square that says "New Snap."

Once the snaps are fully loaded, put your phone on "Airplane Mode" so that you will be disconnected from the internet. Then, return to the Snapchat application, and view your friend's snap.

4. Use Snapchat's Story Feature

One unique feature of Snapchat is its story allows you to send snaps following a narrative style, as per LifeWire. You can tell what happened to your day by sharing the highlights of your 24 hours.

You can set your story in private if you just want certain people to to see it. You also have the option to send it to a few people only. You can also mute a friend's story temporarily to stop it from being included at the top of your list.

5. Use Snapchat Location

You can use the Snapchat location tools or the Snapchat Snap Map for an interactive way of communicating with your friends, as per LifeWire. You friend's Bitmoji will appear on the map when they share their location with you.

You can also view stories from around the world through the Snap Map. There is also the heatmap that shows the snaps people have submitted from a certain area. The Blue heatmaps indicates that few snaps were taken there, while red shows that a lot were taken in the area.
