The NFL athlete once again took out his frustrations over the football game on Microsoft's tablet device.
On Sunday's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints, the NFL star appeared to be very frustrated with a specific play before his team eventually earned the win 20-10. Professional football quarterback Tom Brady was once again caught on video hurling a Microsoft Surface tablet in frustration, an act that he famously did last year.
The Verge has a GIF of Brady throwing the Microsoft Surface tablet to the ground. The 45 year old professional athlete had also tossed his helmet onto the field before storming to the sidelines, where he took out his frustrations on the mobile device.
Brady Known to Throw Tablets to the Ground
This is not the first time Brady had chucked a Microsoft Surface tablet in frustration. ESPN reported in December 2021 that Brady went viral after he tossed the same device after his team lost to the New Orleans Saints.
Added the ESPN report, Brady was warned by the NFL about throwing such devices. The athlete said during a "Let's Go!" podcast with Jim Gray on SiriusXM, "I did get a warning from the NFL. I can't throw another Surface or else I get fined. Imagine that!"
The athlete also promised not to "throw another Surface," but mused that it was "pretty good marketing" for Microsoft. The Microsoft Surface tablet was first released in June 2012 and was marketed as a hybrid tablet and computer in one.
Brady Apologizes for Throwing the Microsoft Surface Tablet
After the game, Brady was well aware that his actions would spur a reaction from fans online. According to CNet, the NFL athlete took to Twitter to share a video message about the Bucs win, adding, "Sorry for breaking that tablet, I think that's gonna be another Twitter meme or something like that."
Meanwhile, The Verge said that Brady's tossing of the tablet device also earned a reaction from Microsoft Surface chief Panos Panay, who took to his Instagram Stories to share, "Rest assured the Surface should be just fine."
This is not the first or second time the Microsoft Surface tablet has been the victim of an athlete's frustrations. The report said that since the device was introduced to the NFL back in 2014, others have been caught chucking the device. This includes Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers and Patriots coach Bill Belichick. But the NFL's website reports that Microsoft specifically designed the Surface tablet to "stand up to the occasional drop" that comes with using it on the football field.
As for Brady, maybe he needs a bit of time off so he won't smash expensive electronics in frustration. He has been given what is called a "veteran rest day" every Wednesday for the rest of the season, CBS Sports reported. The 45 year old originally retired after the 2021 season but changed his mind and came out of retirement just in time for the 2022 season. He also took an 11-day hiatus during training camp. Many fans expect that Brady will finally retire for good after the 2022 season.
