Samsung launched a slew of products at its Unpacked event on Sept. 4, including a refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
The Korean company launched the original Galaxy Note 10.1 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Feb. 2012. The 10.1-inch tablet gained a lot of popularity as the company also introduced a stylus (S Pen), which is not a common feature with other tablets in its category.
The new Galaxy Note 10.1 is a step up from its predecessor and the tablet packs in better hardware specifications and improved software features.
"The new Galaxy Note 10.1 is the most progressive 10-inch tablet, delivering the best viewing and multitasking experiences. It is the most recent demonstration of Samsung Mobile's focus on constant product innovation to stay aligned with shifting consumer interests," said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. "The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) unites a range of features that will consistently surprise consumers as they realise how much easier and more enjoyable it makes their everyday lives."
The latest version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 packs top-end features in its category. The tablet sports a 10.1-inch WQXGA Super Clear LCD display with 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 299 pixels per inch (ppi). A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz powers the tablet, paired with 3GB of RAM.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is available in 16/32/64 GB storage options, which can be extended to a further 64GB using a microSD card. The device is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel secondary one.
A powerful 8,220mAh battery powers the device. The Galaxy Note 10.1 runs on the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and features the much-touted S Pen, which brings in more features to the tablet. The refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be available in two color options: Jet Black and Classic White. The tablet will hit the shelves in Q3 2013; however, we will have to wait for Samsung to confirm the exact pricing of its latest tablet.
Apple is expected to launch its next-generation iPad 5 soon and we will have to wait and see if the refreshed Galaxy Note 10.1 is able to throw the gauntlet to the upcoming Apple offering.
