If you are looking for something new to watch on Netflix today or in the coming days, we have a suggestion for you. It is a limited series called "Thai Cave Rescue."
If the name somehow rings a bell, it is because it is inspired by true events that took place in 2018 when 12 boys and their soccer coach were trapped in a cave in Thailand. Miraculously, all 13 of them were rescued following a massive international effort.
Here is what you have to know about Netflix's "Thai Cave Rescue":
Netflix Limited Series 'Thai Cave Rescue'
The Netflix limited series "Thai Cave Rescue" is six episodes long. As previously mentioned, tells the story of how members of a Thai youth soccer team called Wild Boars and their coach found themselves trapped in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
The unexpected downpour of rain had flooded the cave, preventing the boys and their coach from heading home. A massive rescue effort that involved many countries was eventually launched to save the team. All 13 were rescued after 18 days.
It should be noted, however, that the Netflix series is a limited series and not a documentary series. In fact, each of the six episodes begin with a reminder that states, "This series is inspired by true events; however certain characters, names, incidents, locations, and dialogue have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes."
One episode is dedicated to Saman Kunan, the 37-year-old former Royal Thai Navy SEAL who died during a rescue attempt. He died of asphyxation while returning to the base.
