Rumors of the Nexus 5 have been doing the rounds and some renders of the upcoming handset have emerged online showing what the smartphone may look like.
Recently, Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat in brand partnership with Nestle. The company also released a promotional video of putting a giant Android's KitKat statue. In the video, a mystery handset was spotted with LG and Nexus logos on the rear. Shortly after, Google has pulled down the video from YouTube.
An LG smartphone codenamed D820 was also spotted at the FCC recently. The smartphone featured Qi wireless charging and Near-Field Communication (NFC).
"The D820 also features 7-band LTE, some of which are compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint (bands 2/4/5/17/25/26/41), CDMA / EVDO rev A, pentaband DC-HSPA+ and quadband GSM / EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac. That's an amazingly healthy list of specs for your usual FCC submission, and the list of LTE bands is quite stunning as well," reported Engadget.
A Reddit user has now created an unofficial render of the LG Nexus 5, giving us a glimpse into what the upcoming device may look like.
Google launched the Nexus 4 in Oct. 2012 and the handset released in Nov. 2012. However, since its release the handset was marred by supply issues. The company failed to meet customer demand, which resulted in major dissatisfaction within smartphone buyers.
The Nexus 4 packed top-end features and was also available at a very competitive price. The handset was initially launched in only a black color option, but later the company also announced a white version of the handset.
It will soon be a year since Google has launched a new Nexus smartphone. Customers will be eagerly waiting to get their hands on the upcoming Nexus 5 as soon as possible. The next-generation Nexus 5 is expected to pack in high-end features along with a competitive price tag.
Google usually releases a new version of its new mobile operating system with the launch of a new device such as a smartphone or tablet. With the recent announcement of Android 4.4 KitKat we can hope that the company launches its latest smartphone with the new OS.
