Twitter's New Feature Lets You Put Photos, Videos, GIFs in One Tweet

Twitter has rolled out a mixed media feature for users worldwide that lets them upload photos, GIFs, and videos in one tweet.

Along with other features that were introduced in the past few weeks, Twitter unveils that users are no longer restricted to tweeting only one type of media on a post, according to Comic Book.

Twitter Users Have Been Granted A Highly Requested Feature

With the string of updates that Twitter had been rolling out, mixed media tweets now allows users to tweet multiple media of different types with one small tap on the tweet composer.

The Verge writes that users can now upload any media of their choice, and these will show up side-by-side or in a grid-like format, depending on how many media the users choose to include in the post.

AD Week says that the mixed media tweet feature had been testing for several months now in select accounts, but it now enables people worldwide to express themselves beyond 280 characters.

In a blog post by Twitter on Wednesday, adding mixed media to a tweet is simply a straightforward way to help creators express themselves and be seen.

Twitter shares that the update is an attempt to make the platform the best place to share media, which also followed the roll out of two new video products that included a full-screen video and Explore tab features.

The Mixed Media Came With A Few Others

To enhance the Twitter viewing experience, the social media platform also launched a few more updates that will be available in the mobile apps.

Search Engine Journal reports that Twitter Explore is among other features that Twitter introduced recently, which allows users to see a curated stream of videos to a user's liking.

According to the Search Engine Journal, Explore creates a feed for users that are selected according to their own interests, revealing a range of categories of trending topics such as For You, Trending, and News.

Additionally, Video Carousel will also be available to users, which is a feature that lets users select popular videos to watch, and discover more in the process.

Connectedly, Twitter updated its video playback as it now takes videos to expand full screen, which makes viewing more functional and easier to keep up with.

However, AD Week reported that the response to the announcement had been mixed so far as users are split between those who appreciate it, and those who think that is too much like TikTok.

While comparisons to TikTok are inevitable, the Search Engine Journal says that the lack of a feature that prioritizes videos on Twitter still makes watching videos secondary to the experience of reading tweets.

Comic Book also writes that the multiple video feature updates followed the announcement of another highly requested feature which was the Edit button, which is not fully out yet except for verified users.

Today, people are speculating that the consecutive roll out of new Twitter updates is because of the rumored acquisition of the platform by Elon Musk, The Verge reports.
