Microsoft is implementing a major overhaul in its Office branding after more than 30 years.
Because of the increasing number of productivity apps of the software giant, Microsoft Office will be renamed "Microsoft 365," as per The Verge.
This should not make you worry as useful Office apps such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint will stay. But instead of being called Microsoft Office, they will now be part of Microsoft 365.
Microsoft Will be Putting a Microsoft 365 App on Mobile and Desktop
"In the coming months, Office.com, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features," according to a Microsoft FAQ.
In the past years, the software giant has been opting for this major brand overhaul. In fact, two years ago, it renamed Office 365 to Microsoft 365.
While at present, the Microsoft's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other apps online can be accessed at Office.com, soon you'll have to use Mircrosoft365.com. We'll also say goodbye to the current square logo and welcome the new six-sided one.
We can expect the changes to take effect next month. Meanwhile, the rebranding for the Office app for Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android will still happen in January 2023.
Microsoft will retain the names Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Clipchamp, Stream and Designer.
The company will be putting a Microsoft 365 app on mobile and desktop. The said app will work as "a centralized hub for information, showing meetings, files, documents and more," according to Engadget.
But even with the brand overhaul, the Microsoft Office brand will remain for a while. You can still make one-time purchases of Microsoft' Office bundle apps via Office 2021 and Office LTSC plans.
Since Microsoft Office is now a "legacy brand" for Microsoft, the new features will directly arrive to Microsoft 365 and no longer to Microsoft Office.

Microsoft 365 Aims to Create a Better Experience for Users
"Over the last couple years, Microsoft 365 has evolved into our flagship productivity suite, so we are creating an experience to help you get the most out of Microsoft 365," says a Microsoft's FAQ
In 2020, when Office 365's name was changed to Microsoft 365, Microsoft said that the name change was made because customers are having a hard time deciding which SKU is right for them.
As the company adopted a new name, they are also shifting focus on how their services deliver value to their customers.
But even with the change in name, Office remains at the heart of Microsoft 365 apps. However, Microsoft 365 helps convey the larger value while keeping Office central to the experience.
Office has changed over the years, and aside from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, other apps, capabilities, connection to the Microsoft 365 cloud, and a user-based licensing approach are also part of it.
Even when Microsoft changed Office 365's name, the software giant did not change the prices and features of the product.
