Nintendo has to temporarily suspend the Nintendo Switch Sports version 1.2.1 update that it rolled out last week due to a bug causing the game to crash.
But according to CNET, following several days of being offline due to the bug, Nintendo Switch Sports will be back online this week.
Nintendo Will Compensate Players for the Downtime
The bug, which was found in the Switch Sports version 1.2.1 update, caused the games to crash while loading both online and offline modes.
While Nintendo is investigating the issue, it decided to suspend the roll out of the said patch. Moreover, the company disabled online play.
The company said that to resolve the issue, it will be issuing two updates. According to The Verge, once the version 1.2.2 patch is already available, the servers will return.
Video Games Chronicle said that version 1.2.2 is set to go live on October 18. The new patch is essentially a fix. Players should be able to access online play once they have installed this update.
Meanwhile, a second patch, version 1.2.3 will be available on October 20, according to CNET. After installing the second patch, save data backup will resume service.
According to Nintendo, players may need to download both updates in order to be able to play the game online again.
Since the downtime is caused by a bug due to the previous update, Nintendo plans to provide compensation to players.
Membership of the Nintendo Switch Sports online subscribers, who have previously played Switch Sports, will be extended by one week.
Players will also get twice the typical number of in-game points rewarded for playing online from October 18 until November 3.
On Nintendo's end, the company also plans to let the players get the "weekly items they may have missed out on while the game was offline." This is a feature that Nintendo will be adding in the future.
