Recent reports suggest that Sony has another flagship handset, the Xperia Z2, in the pipeline and some hardware specifications of the handset have now leaked.
Sony has already launched a number of top-end smartphone this year, which include the Xperia Z. Xperia ZL, Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia Z1 (Honami). The company also seems to be on track to launch its first smartphone for 2014, the Xperia Z2, also codenamed "Avatar".
The Japanese company launched the Xperia Z along with the Xperia ZL at the International CES event in January this year. Various hardware specifications of the Xperia Z2 have appeared recently and rumors suggest that the Xperia Z2 will launch at the International CES 2014.
"Keep in mind that this specs are rumor and totally unofficial and we are waiting for any official statement or news by the Sony.The device will be unveiled at CES 2014 and the codename for this device is still Avatar," reports AndroidSaS.
The Xperia Z1 packs in impressive features, especially top-notch camera capabilities like a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing shooter. The successor of the current flagship may also be equipped with the same camera but will also include Xenon flash to give better picture quality in low light conditions.
The AndroidSaS report cites unknown sources and claims that the next-generation Xperia Z2 will have a 5.5-inch IGZO and Triluminuous display with 1080p resolution and a pixel density of 540 pixels per inch(ppi). Just like the Xperia Z1, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor is expected to power the Xperia Z2. However, the Xperia Z2 is speculated to have 3GB of RAM.
A bigger and powerful 3,500mAh battery is rumored to fuel the device and the handset may come pre-loaded with the recently-announced Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The leaked specifications of the Sony Xperia Z2 seem very impressive and the smartphone may give stiff competition to other handsets in its category.
The International CES 2014 is still a good few months away and more rumors of the handset will definitely emerge in this time frame, giving us more details of what to expect.
