Xiaomi just unveiled the new Redmi Note 12 lineup dubbed as "Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition." The Discovery Edition sets another milestone for midrange phones as it brings 210W charging, the fastest on any smartphone to date.
While both Xiaomi's earlier 120W HyperCharge and Oppo's 150W SuperVOOC require 15 minutes to charge a 4,500mAh battery, Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition has a 210W HyperCharge capability, as per Engadget.
This simply means that the newest Redmi Note 12 Discover Edition can fully charge the phone's 4,300mAh battery in just 9 minutes. This is because the 210W HyperCharge capability is controlled by three 100W fast charging chips.
The Impressive Charging Tech of Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition
According to Digital Trends, in just five minutes, the phone could be charged to up to 66 percent, and it can be 100 percent fully charged in just about nine minutes.
Considering that the smartphones from Apple and Google take about two hours to be completely charged, this capability of Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition is truly impressive.
What's more impressive is the phone doesn't use a massive charger. Because of GaN technology, the charger only measures 67.3 x 64.3 x 30mm.
For those unfamiliar, as a material that produces less heat while charging, Gallium Nitride (or GaN) allows chargers to be more compact.
Compared to regular silicon-based chargers, GaN chargers are also lightweight, and energy-efficient.
You can find an E-mark chip in the supplied USB cable. This helps the charger attain its full potential.
The charging tech of Xiaomi is truly impressive but unfortunately, we will not see it in the US anytime soon. The reason for that is Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi do not supply phones in the country.

Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition Features
In addition to the impressive charging tech, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition is powered by MediaTek's mid-range Dimensity 1080 processor.
