Google’s New Splash Screen Icons Now Appear On Home Screens

As part of the company's attempt to establish a new visual branding, Google introduces splash screen icons for Contacts, Messaging, and Phone apps to their users.

The new animated logos are now available to users as Android Police reports that the new look is becoming more and more available to users after the launch.

Not Only Splash Screen Logos Are Coming To Google's Communication Apps

According to a previous article by Android Police, this visual rebranding by Google follows the company's push for a better messaging experience for users across devices.

With this, users will see limited visual changes to icons for Messages, Phone, and Cointacts applications after installing the update from the Play Store.

Google claims that the new dynamic icons will blend in with other icons in the users' devices, especially for Android phone users and users who use Pixel exclusively.

As of the moment, the animated logos are not yet available when users open the mobile app, but users who open Google Messages on the web will see the splash screen icons.

These icons will appear before the system takes the user to the threads of chat in Google Messages, Android Police says.

9to5 Google details that if users have opted to choose "Remember this computer," the animation appears on future page reloads.

The logo animation begins with a light blue circle that expands into a messaging bubble, layered above a darker icon to arrive at an animation slightly similar to the one the company shared on Youtube.

Google's Improvements for Phone, Messages, and Contacts Are Not Exclusive To Appearance

Google's visual rebranding comes strategically as the company is also planning to revamp the features of its Messaging app to make it seem more iOS-like.

According to CNet, Google's development of its animated icons comes before the series of updates the company wants to roll out to make its texting function better.

This function will not only introduce splash screen icons, but also a feature that makes designing customized emojis possible.

Upcoming updates for Google Messages will also allegedly include letting users respond to an individual message in the conversation when RCS is enabled.

This feature follows the likeness of Apple's iMessage feature, which lets users respond to a message without breaking the conversation flow.

Phone Arena writes that the improvements will also allow users to auto-transcribe messages and see reminders for important moments and appointments without going through different apps.

Furthermore, the improvements will reportedly let users watch YouTube videos inside of conversations and even respond to texts while doing so.

It will also allow users to mark messages that contain addresses, door codes, and phone numbers with stars, which will make finding them quicker.

CNet says that Google is even partnering with United Airlines to bring this free RCS texting over to flights that also offer other text services like iMessage and WhatsApp.

RCS is being pitched as a replacement for SMS and is allegedly the reason for Google's rebranding of its communication applications.

According to Phone Arena, Google Phone and Contacts will also see a rollout of updates in the following days to make Google a recognizable and accessible communication tool for everyone.
