Elon Musk posted a link of unfounded information to Twitter on Sunday, containing rumors about the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi.
The tweet that contains an article that made allegations about Pelosi's husband has since been deleted, The New York Times reports.
The Billionaire Shares Unverified Claims On His Account
The new owner of Twitter posted an unfounded anti-LGBTQ claim about Pelosi's husband from a website known as a purveyor of false information.
This tweet links to a website called the Santa Monica Observer, which has previously reported false news that Hilary Clinton passed on September 11.
According to ABC News, this article, on the other hand, says that the speaker's husband had something to do with an intruder attack in a San Francisco home.
Musk tweeted this article in response to Clinton's post, which criticizes Republicans by saying that they spread hate and baseless conspiracy theories that result to violence.
In his response, the CEO links an article from the website, and says that there could be more to the story of the intrusion that the public does not know about.
This exchange between Musk and Clinton came after Twitter's head of safety and integrity Yoel Roth tweeted about the platform's content moderation policies.
The Santa Monica Observer has been known to publish false information and conspiracies that may be harmful to those who consume it.
Musk deleted the tweet after having more than 24,000 retweets and more than 86,000 likes, and has since been silent about the controversy.
Moreover, the billionaire's post containing unofficial information raises concern among Twitter users since it was the new owner of the platform leading the spread of disinformation.
The Street reports that this behavior is even more concerning when Musk promises advertisers on the platform that Twitter will not allow anything to be said without consequences.

The San Francisco Police Shares Information About The Attack
NBC News writes that the authorities at San Francisco have shared information that proves the story from the Santa Monica Observer false.
The police report that on the day of the home invasion, only the attacker and Pelosi's husband were on the site of the incident.
The attacker had demanded to see the House Speaker in the violent break-in, but she was in Washington at the time.
Because of this, the attacker assaulted Pelosi's husband with a hammer, causing injuries to his right arm and hands, and a fractured skull that needed surgery.
The suspect was later on identified as David Dapepe, who, contrary to the Santa Monica Observer's report, is not in any acquaintance with the Pelosis.
Dapepe, a 42-year old far-right conspiracy theorist, is suspected of attempted murder, elder abuse, assault with a weapon, and burglary.
This incident happened less than two weeks before the congressional midterm elections on November 8, according to NBC News.
Until today, Dapepe's motivation for the intrusion is still unclear, but he is now in custody of the San Francisco Police, while the FBI is investigating the attack.
