Elon Musk Reportedly Wants to Roll Out Edit Button for All Users

Soon, everyone will be able to fix embarrassing typos in their tweets.

According to reports, Twitter's new CEO, Elon Musk, is planning to roll out the much-requested edit button for free to all of the platform's 230 million users, as per Digital Trends.

Casey Newton Says Elon Musk Plans to Make the Edit Button Available to All Users

After Musk completed his $44 billion takeover bid to acquire Twitter last week, he's been busy implementing changes to the social media company.

First, he fired the company's former CEO Parag Agrawal and other top officials. He also dissolved the board. Now, he's Twitter's CEO.

Recently, he also announced that the platform may start charging $8 a month to verified users who want to retain their verified status, as per Engadget.

Now, the billionaire said that he plans to make Twitter's edit button available to everyone for free, according to Platformer's Casey Newton.

Currently, the edit button is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers who are paying $4.99 per month, as per Tech Times.

In addition, it is available to limited countries only such us the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, meaning it is inaccessible in other parts of the world.

But it seems that Twitter is taking a new direction under the leadership of its new CEO. Users all over the globe will benefit if the edit functionality would be rolled out for free to all of the social media's 230 million subscribers.

The edit button is one of the most requested features of Twitter. It allows users to edit their tweet in a span of 30 minutes after the tweet was posted.

While the changes made in the tweet will be reflected in its revision history, this feature is seen as useful in instances of typo and grammatical errors.

Elon Musk Introduces Changes to Twitter Blue

When Musk first acquired a huge share in the company, he already mentioned the edit button. A poll was posted by the billionaire asking his followers if the social media should have the edit button.

The poll has only two options: "no" and "yse." For a long time now, there has been a clamor among Twitter subscribers to have the edit button in the platform.

With so many changes coming to the social media under the new Chief Twit, rolling out the edit button to everyone seems highly possible. And if Casey's sources are reliable, this could happen soon.

However, Musk has yet to publicly confirm the platform's move to make the edit button available to everyone. We would have to wait for his announcement.

Aside from the edit button, Musk mentioned that he will introduce some changes to Twitter Blue.

As we have seen on October 31, one of the changes that he's talking about is discontinuing the ad-free news articles for the Blue subscribers. The publishers were notified through email.

As mentioned earlier, Musk also announced he will allow anyone who wants get verified get the blue tick on Twitter if they are willing to pay $8 per month.

Among the perks that those with verified accounts will enjoy are fewer ads, priority in replies, and the ability to post longer videos.
